Jalapeno Poppers Recipe...

Stuffed With Bacon, Cheddar, And Cream Cheese!

Red Chile Peppers in Bunches at the Rialto Market in Venice, Italy

Red Chile Peppers in Bunches at the Rialto Market in Venice, Italy
Buy This Print At

“This is a recipe I made by taking the best of three or four popper recipes and combining them to make something that tastes wonderful. A frequent request at my house, and at others. I usually make 100 and put them in the fridge. They don’t last long. Adjust the amount of bacon bits and type of shredded cheese to taste. Increase the recipe as necessary! Lots of tests helps to best figure out the way you like it. Be sure to wear rubber gloves while seeding the jalapenos — they will burn.”

12 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 (8 ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon bacon bits
12 ounces jalapeno peppers – seeded and halved
1 cup milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup dry bread crumbs
2 quarts oil for frying

In a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese, Cheddar cheese and bacon bits. Spoon this mixture into the jalapeno pepper halves.

Put the milk and flour into two separate small bowls. Dip the stuffed jalapenos first into the milk then into the flour, making sure they are well coated with each. Allow the coated jalapenos to dry for about 10 minutes.

Dip the jalapenos in milk again and roll them through the breadcrumbs. Allow them to dry, then repeat to ensure the entire surface of the jalapeno is coated.

In a medium skillet, heat the oil to 365 degrees F ( 180 degrees C). Deep fry the coated jalapenos 2 to 3 minutes each, until golden brown. Remove and let drain on a paper towel.

Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Peppers With Cream Cheese Recipe

Couldn't Be An Easier Way To Cook Jalapenos!

jalapneo peppers

Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Peppers With Cream Cheese Recipe

  • 20 whole Fresh Jalapenos
  • 2 cubes softened Cream Cheese
  • 1 pound Bacon - Sliced Into Thirds

  1. <p style="font-family:Georgia, Garamond, Serif;">Cut jalapenos in half, length-wise. With a spoon, remove the seeds and white membrane - unless you want them hot. Smear softened cream cheese into each jalapeno half. Wrap jalapeno with bacon pieces (1/3 slice). Stick a tooth pick through the middle to secure. Wash hands THOROUGHLY after handling peppers, or better yet wear latex gloves.
  2. Bake on a pan with a rack in a 375-degree oven for 20-25 minutes. You don't want the bacon to shrink so much it starts to the squeeze the jalapeno. If, after 20 minutes, the bacon doesn't look brown enough, just turn on the broiler for a couple of minutes to finish it off. These are best when the jalapeno still has a bit of bite to it.
  3. Serve immediately, but they are also great at room temperature.

I love to stuff chilies with a mixture of sour cream, cream cheese, minced green onion and black pepper, then bake at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes. Actually that's a better recipe for larger peppers but mini ones would be good too I guess. The creamy filling is lovely with the spicy pepper.
