The James Bond Debate

The character of James Bond found worldwide popularity upon the release of the first Bond movie, "Dr. No". Between 1962 and 1985, a total of 15 Bond movies starred the two actors who were to become the most identified with the role.

It was Scottish actor Sean Connery who became the original Bond and portrayed the character until 1967's "You Only Live Twice", and he would reprise the role four years later in "Diamonds Are Forever" and again in 1983's "Never Say Never Again" - the latter of which was an "unofficial" Bond movie.

1973's "Live And Let Die" saw Englishman Roger Moore take on the role of James Bond finishing with "A View To A Kill" in 1985. To date, he is the longest serving Bond portraying the character in seven movies over a period of 12 years.

While Connery depicted Bond with a steely intensity, Moore's interpretation of the character was considered more laid-back.

So, who was your favorite Bond: Connery or Moore?

Sean Connery

sittonbull says:

It's Sean Connery... the original "Shaken...not stirred!"... hands down! His class and nonchalant, but rugged demeanor as the suave and debonair Bond was "Hell on wheels" or on air, land and sea...and all else, while entertaining, is mere imitation!

WealthandWellness says:

Sean, of course. Loved him in everything he's done but 007 is HIS number, no one else's...period.

WealthandWellness says:

Sean Connery, of course. No one has done it better than he. Roger Moore just isn't the cool cucumber Connery is...I've always said Sean could , ah , that's another topic! :)

fanfreluche says:

Sean Connery was the one and only James Bond (in my heart anyway). He makes bald sexy!

yesido says:

Sean Connery all the way! He will always be 007! He was the reason 007 became a household name.

Treasures-By-Brenda says:

I love Sean Connery.

mrwriter says:

Connery all the way!

AM says:

I liked Sean Connery's cool attitude and acting skills more.

I like both, but Sean Connery was the first James Bond I remember seeing in the theatres.

Connery's a hack and troglodyte. Roger Moore all the way.

georgy says:

George Lazenby was the greatest James Bond, Especially in the scene where he fight the cyborg with two heads. After him Jack Nicholson did a good James Bond

goergy says:

George Lazenby was the best James Bond , especially in the scene where he fight the cyborg with two heads, this was very goods. After him there was Jack Nicholson who did a great James Bond.

michaela2008 says:

Definetly Roger Moore, with his fine humor, his ellegance,it is a true gentelman and a charming James Bond.I stil love him for that role, and i thing hi was more apropriate for that series. He is intelligent, handsome, ellegant, cute and dangerous!!!

Radiomancb says:

Roger Moore definitely

badmsm says:

Roger Moore was also Simon Templar in "The Saint". He was "Moore" handsome, sophisticated, and classier than Sean Connery.

As an aside, Daniel Craig is the best Bond since Roger Moore, IMHO. I loved the remake of Casino Royale!

Sean Cantu says:

Roger Moore Without A Doubt

Sean Cantu says:

Sean did his thing, but Roger Moore was the ideal James Bond. There ain't no one better. I wish the new movie was like the old. I miss a lot of the tradition that they decided not to put in the new one

Sean Connery's James Bond On Video

1962: Dr. No

First appearance of Sean Connery as James Bond in the title sequence from Terence Young's 1962 film, Dr. No.

Much of the iconic stylization of a typical James Bond film were established with Dr. No, beginning with what is known as the gun barrel sequence - an introduction to the character through the view of a gun barrel - and a highly memorable main title sequence.

James Bond: Shaken, Not Stirred?

The Ideal Martini

Roger Moore - James Bond

A properly made martini should taste "like it isn't there at all, just a cold cloud", said Winds Of War author Herman Wouk, describing the favorite tipple of the world's most famous spy. His was, of course, shaken not stirred - although when creating the traditional version bartenders tend to favor the latter.

While a classic martini is made with gin, 007 prefers the vodka version. And mixing one up is an art form in itself. The vermouth should be dry and not sweet, and never added directly to the spirit.

To create the perfect martini, roll a little dry vermouth around a cocktail shaker to completely coat its sides, before tossing the remainder aside and adding broken ice cubes. Then pour three ounces of ice-cold gin or vodka over the ice. Shake hard from side-to-side for 15 seconds or stir gently with a glass pipette, according to preference. Strain the liquid through the ice into a wide-lipped, long stemmed glass, chilled for at least half an hour in the freezer.

A large green olive or lemon twist can then be added. When adding the lemon, do not simply place the rind in the glass. Instead, twist it, skin side down, over the liquid so that a mist of fragrant lemon oil floats on its surface. Then throw the lemon peel away.

Finally and very importantly, hold the glass by its stem in order to ensure your hands don't warm the cocktail.

The music driving the the imaginative and provocative visual introductions along with the outstanding casting made Ian Fleming's words come alive and "rock" on the original Bond series with Sean Connery... plus Sean's character and the story themes were more trustworthy and believable even though they were stretching the envelope of imagination. Most of what followed, while entertaining, is way overdone on sensationalism, innuendo and believability... so to me it's "nolo contendere! " and unfair for anyone else to have to compete with Sean as "007"! My complements (and stars of course) on this lens content and the music really makes it rock! BTW you didn't share your favorite... or did I miss it somewhere?

I hate James Bond it's so boring all he ever does is stand there trying to look good [and failing] while pretending to do something and he always as to that stupid "I get your point" or "I see you point" if they made one that they kill him in it would the best one but then they'd haft to kill him by stabbing him to death so his last words could be "I get your point".
