- A grassroots campaign has been started on Facebook to get James Garner a long overdue, richly deserved honorary Oscar, as was given to Cary Grant. Jim has been overlooked by the Academy. Now is the time to go to the facebook page LIFE ACHIEVEMENT OSCAR FOR JAMES GARNER and click LIKE. We truly need your help in getting thousands of LIKES to present to the Academy. Jim certainly deserves this honorary Oscar. Please help. Thank you.

- I have always liked James Garner. The Thrill of It All and Move Over Darling with Doris Day as well as Maverick, and The Rockford files, plus Murphy's Romance. He was such a handsome man, too.

- I remember in the late 1960's and seeing "The Thrill Of It All" on Tv and the scene when the car goes in the pool, that look on his face. I was hooked. He his still my favorite actor. I still watch all the Rockford Files as much as I can. I own all the CD's of Rockford. My favorite movie is Murphys Romance. The scene when they all get cowboy hats and James Garner explain the correct way to wear them. Absolute classic.

- I recently had a cold and used it as a great excuse to lay on the couch and watch old episodes of Rockford Files on netflix - starting with the pilot episode. What a great show.

- Three reasons (and many more, if given more time to write up) to love James Garner: Maverick, Rockford Files, Murphy's Romance.

- I have always liked James Garner and his work. Even now, I watch some re-runs of Maverick and I certainly liked the movie, Maverick. The big let-down is to see the last paragraph of the "personal life", above. I have just about had it with all the liberalism from hollywood and am particularly disgusted by those who can't get through a conversation without soiling it with their left-leaning jibberish. I have not put Garner in this category, but I believe it is important to avoid political statements unless you are willing to lose fans and support.

- A wonderful tribute to one of my favorite actors. I love any actor who has been with one wife so long, such as Charleton Heston and Paul Newman and James Stewart.

- I met James Garner in the early eighties at Gleneagles Golf Course in Scotland. I was anxious that he may not have been so nice in 'real life' as he seemed on the screen, but I wasn't disappointed. He was charming and lovely to talk to. I have been an even greater fan of his since then, following all of his films. My favourites are Victor/Victoria, Murphy's Romance and Space Cowboys. I would like to wish him a very happy eightieth birthday...and many more !!! xx

- I have loved James Garner since I was about 10 years old and we got out first tv. Maverick was on then and he stole my heart. I have watched everything he has been in since then. Rockford was great. I loved him in YaYa and The Notebook. In fact I just watched it again yesterday for the untenth time. I don't like that beautiful dark wavy hair getting thinner and the slump in his back, but he will always be one of my most favorite actors. Happy Birthday tomorrow, April 7,2008. May you never leave us. A fan.

- I've loved anything he's ever done, most recently "The Notebook" and "The Ultimate Gift". He seems like a very nice person. I'd like to meet him some day, if only to shake his hand and say "Thanks!"

- As a kid growing up I loved to watch Maverick, but as an adult I respect this man for what he did in life...Korean War Vet and married to the same woman for 51 years...and oh yes...a very talented actor. Best of all he just seems like a likeable guy!! He's truly a hero.

- Hi GypsyPirate, nice WHO IS James Garner resource. He's still Jim Rockford to me too :D I used to watch The Rockford files too. He was a likeable guy with a kewl car and the show had a catchy sound track. I liked him as an older guy in The Notebook. You might check that one out. ~Music Resource~
