- Jan Brett not only is a beautiful illustrator, she also has a wonderful site with games, activities and worksheets for teaching young children. I especially like the mitten activity where children can cut out and color the animals from the mitten.
First graders can copy the names of the animals from the board or the book onto the back of the animals in order to help them with beginning reading and writing skills.
