Jane and the Dragon TV Series and Book Series (Books by Martin Baynton)

This clever TV series follows the comedic exploits of a 13-year-old girl in Medieval times. As an only child, Jane was raised to be a lady-in-waiting, but through her determination and a stroke of luck, she ends up being trained as a knight in the King's Guard instead.

The Jane And The Dragon animated television series premiered on NBC on September 9, 2006.

Martin Baynton Author Information from Wikpedia

Martin Baynton is best known as a writer and illustrator of children's books. Currently living in Australia he has had over thirty titles published with publishers including Walker Books, Penguin, Random House, Scholastic and Greenwillow.

Baynton is the creator of the award winning Jane And The Dragon TV series produced in New Zealand by Weta Workshop, the special effects company that produced the Lord Of The Rings and King Kong films. Baynton is the creative lead and executive producer of the Jane and the Dragon series which is based on his much loved children's book series of the same name which he wrote in the 1980's.

Baynton was educated at Hereford Cathedral School and London University. He studied Electroencephalography at Great Ormand Street Hospital and helped to develop biofeedback technologies at the Medical Electronics Unit at Barts Hospital and became that Biofeedback Unit's first therapist working for biofeedback pioneer Dr Ann Wooley-Hart.

Baynton married in the early 1980's and in 1987 he and his wife Diane emigrated to New Zealand in 1987 with their two children Theo and Terri. They emigrated to Australia in 2007.

Aside from his children's books Baynton has written for radio, film, TV and the stage. He wrote, produced and directed the Fifty The Tractor animated series based on his own best-selling books. His stage plays include Performance Anxiety and No Bits For Tilly. he has been a stage and TV actor, his TV credits include guest lead roles on Hercules,Shortland Street and Being Eve.

Baynton is currently developing new properties for Weta Productions and has partnered with Keith Chapman of Chapman Entertainment, the creator of Bob The Builder and Fifi and the Flowertots, to develop properties for 6 to 10 year old boys.
