Sex in Fanfiction

PG, PG-13, R or NC-17? Have your say!

Some fan themselves at the image of Lizzy and Darcy in the throes of passion while others think 'Eww! Too much detail!' Or perhaps they feel that since the original novel didn't include bedroom scenes, and since they came to fanfiction to get more time with that novel and its characters, that the sex scenes do nothing to add to the experience they are looking for.

What Do You Think About Sex Scenes in JAFF?

I like it HOT

J says:

Look, the authors of fanfiction have the right to add whatever they like to they're material, if you don't agree to it, then don't read it. Personally I'm all for it, Austen lived in a time where the mention of sexual intercourse was taboo, but now, why ever not? Sex is more then just physical, it can be an emotion experience, thats what people do when they're in love, but if its not your cup of tea, nobody's forcing you to read it. -J-

MRamani says:

Its great but not before marriage.

missbooble says:

I'm okay as long as it doesn't go into too much detail...

angenette says:

love it

KB says:

I only read nc-17 rated fics, they add a bit of excitement!

I think it's GROSS

Wolfi says:

only in modern fanfiction

casey says:

no i think it is much better without them

Sherri says:

The problem is that it gets so far away from what Austen originally intended that it is not the same story with the same lessons in it.The characters are no longer recognizable. Austen did leave many clues vis a vis sex, but never was vulgar. The Ehle/Firth version and their off screen relationship that came through in the filming in many ways spawned this type of fan fiction, where people may see THEM and not the characters. In some fan fiction Darcy is no better than Wickham and that I find very sad.

Marie says:

Like an old movie- dim the lights but don't go into the details. Poor Elizabeth is almost a ragdoll!

Maria says:

I perfere not to have the sex scenes. I like to leave that to the imagination just as Jane did. If the story is well written there is no need for more detail.
