Actress Jane Leeves

One of my favorite sitcom stars ever is Jane Leeves. She is a Screen Actors Guild Award winning English actress. After a regular stint on The Benny Hill Show as one of "Hill's Angels", Leeves gained fame as Daphne Moon on the popular U. S. sitcom Frasier. Jane currently stars in TV Land's popular sitcom Hot in Cleveland.

Early Career

Born in 1961, in Ilford, East London, England and growing up in East Grinstead, Leeves trained as a ballet dancer and worked as a model. An ankle injury made Jane give up her dancing career, and focus on modelling and acting. Leeves made her first film appearance as a topless angel in 1983's Monty Python's The Meaning of Life.

Jane was a "Hill's Angel" regular on The Benny Hill Show, and appeared as a tourist in the David Lee Roth music video for the song "California Girls", but she remained largely anonymous. She became somewhat visible as a record company employee on the syndicated comedy Throb!.

Leeves tasted some success with the recurring role in the television series Murphy Brown which she portrayed "Audrey", the awkward and overbearing girlfriend of producer Miles Silverberg (played by Grant Shaud). Leeves also appeared as "Marla the Virgin" in four risqué episodes of Seinfeld: "The Virgin", "The Contest", "The Pilot" and "The Finale - Part 2".

"Frasier" Years to Present

leeves

In 1993, she joined the cast of the television series Frasier. Leeves played the eccentric English healthcare worker Daphne Moon, and she became quite popular in this role. 1996 was a big year for Jane, both professionally and personally. As well as excelling on Frasier, she also provided voice talent on Disney's animated James And The Giant Peach. Jane also got married that year to Paramount TV executive Marshall Coben in Kent, England. By the start of 2001-2002 season, Leeves was pregnant with her first of two children, and the writers incorporated her pregnancy into show. By the end of Frasier in 2004, Leeves had been granted an Emmy Award nomination for her long-time portrayal of Daphne and had become the highest-paid British actress in Hollywood.

Today, Leeves lives with her husband two children in California, occasionally acting in supporting roles in film and television. Also keeping Jane busy is her production company that she founded with her sister Kathryn and former Frasier actress Peri Gilpin.

The Show's Cast

Along with Leeves, Hot in Cleveland's Cast Includes:

Valerie Bertinelli Bio

Valerie Bertinelli was born in Wilmington, Delaware to Irish/Italian-American parents Nancy and Andrew Bertinelli (a General Motors executive). She had an older brother, Mark, who died at 17 months from an accidental poisoning before Valerie was born. Along with her other three brothers, one older and two younger, the family lived in Claymont, Delaware, and Clarkston, Michigan. They later moved to Oklahoma City before moving to the Los Feliz section of Los Angeles, California, where Bertinelli studied acting at the Tami Lynn School of Artists. She attended Granada Hills High School until 1978 but did not graduate. As of January 2008, she was pursuing the last few credits needed for her high school diploma. She was raised Roman Catholic.

Following her appearance in an episode of Apple's Way, Bertinelli was approached by producer Norman Lear to audition for the role of cooperative daughter Barbara Cooper in a new sitcom called One Day at a Time. The show debuted in late 1975. For the show's first season, Bertinelli was 15 and her character was written as a tomboy. The following year, in the show's first full season, Bertinelli's character was revised to be more appealing to a traditional male demographic. Bertinelli, appeared in 207 out of the 209 episodes before, the show left airwaves on May 28, 1984. At one point, she and Bonnie Franklin, who played her mother Ann Romano, were involved in plans for a spin-off series, but it was never produced.

Three decades later, in 2005, during the One Day at a Time Reunion Special, Bertinelli was reunited with fellow cast members Franklin, Mackenzie Phillips, and Pat Harrington, Jr. to watch memorable clips from the original show's nine seasons. They talked about actors who had left the show as well as Phillips' drug problem, which had wreaked havoc on the set and caused Phillips to be fired from the show.

Bertinelli and Eddie Van Halen made a musical appearance on Michael Jackson's Thriller album, with Bertinelli singing background and Eddie playing guitar on "Beat It."

After One Day at a Time, Bertinelli continued to act, starring....(read more at Wikipedia)

Wendie Malick Bio

Born in Buffalo, New York, Wendie Malick is the daughter of Gigi, a former model, and Ken Malick, who worked in sales. Her father is Egyptian. She graduated from Williamsville South High School.

In 1972, after graduating from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, Malick began fashion modeling for the Wilhelmina modeling agency. She left that to work for Republican Congressman Jack Kemp. It didn't take her long to realize that her future was not in Washington, but on the stage and screen. She began working as an actress in 1982 in the film A Little Sex and has worked steadily since. She was given a special award by the Screen Actors Guild for her accomplishments in film and television. She has appeared in no fewer than five television programs or films every year for the past 23 years.

In 1982, Malick auditioned unsuccessfully for the role of Diane Chambers in the NBC sitcom Cheers. She played a supporting role in the 1988 film Scrooged as Bill Murray's sister-in-law. Her first lead role on a TV series was on the HBO series Dream On in 1990. She remained on this show until 1996, winning four CableACE Awards for best actress in a comedy series.

In 1997, Malick began the role of Nina Van Horn, a shallow, boozing former supermodel on the NBC sitcom Just Shoot Me! - a role she continued until the show ended in 2003. She was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her work on Just Shoot Me! in 1999 and again in 2002.

In 2003, Malick joined the cast of Frasier portraying Ronee Lawrence, a Seattle lounge singer (and Frasier's (Kelsey Grammer) childhood babysitter) who develops a relationship with Frasier's father, Martin Crane (John Mahoney). Eventually, her character of Ronee would marry Martin in the series finale of the critically acclaimed program. Malick and Mahoney co-starred in The American President.

Malick starred in the made-for-TV movie Take My Advice: The Ann and Abby Story, in which she played the dual roles of identical twin sibling advice columnists Ann Landers (Esther Lederer) and "Dear Abby" Abigail Van Buren (Pauline Phillips). She provided the voice of Principal Folsom for the....(read more at Wikipedia)

Betty Whie Bio

Betty Marion White (born January 17, 1922) is an Emmy Award-winning American actress, comedian, and former game-show host. She is best known for her television roles as Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rose Nylund on The Golden Girls. Her career has spanned over 70 years.

White has won six Emmy Awards and received 18 Emmy nominations over the course of her career, including being the first woman ever to receive an Emmy for game show hosting (for the short-lived Just Men!). In May 2010, White became the oldest person to guest-host Saturday Night Live. She has also made regular appearances on the game shows Password and Match Game and played recurring roles on Mama's Family, Boston Legal, and The Bold and the Beautiful. She is also recognized for her affiliation with animal charities such as "Actors and Others for Animals" and the Morris Animal Foundation.

Embarking on her performing career in 1939, White found work modeling. Her first professional acting job was at the Bliss Hayden Little Theatre. White's career was disrupted immediately, as World War II broke out causing White to join the American Women's Voluntary Services. In the 1940s, she worked in radio appearing on shows such as Blondie, The Great Gildersleeve and This Is Your FBI. She then got her own radio show, called The Betty White Show. She debuted on television in 1949, when she began appearing with Al Jarvis on his daily, live television variety show, Hollywood on Television on KLAC-TV in Los Angeles. White began hosting the show in 1952 after Jarvis' departure.

In 1952, the same year she began hosting Hollywood on Television, White co-founded Bandy Productions with writer George Tibbles and Don Fedderson, a producer. The trio worked to create new shows using existing characters from sketches shown on Hollywood on Television. White, Fedderson and Tibbles created the television comedy Life With Elizabeth, based on a Hollywood on Television sketch. White portrayed the title character on the sitcom from 1952 to 1955, which effectively boosted her career. The show, which she also co-produced, garnered White her first Emmy Award. Life With Elizabeth was nationally syndicated by the mid-1950s, allowing White to become one of the only women in television with full creative control in front of and....(read more at Wikipedia)
