Janelle Monae is a little baby-faced creature that moves quickly and powerfully on stage. She performs with grace and style, yet a strenght that is peculiar. She looks like the twin sister of Andre 2000 from Outkast. Growing up in Kansas City was not easy so she left for Atlanta where she started her music career.
Her debut album is called "Metropolis, The Chase Suite". It draws inspiration from the 1927 silent film "Metropolis". Her voice is pleasant, powerful or sweet as needed, and her record contains very different styles of music. I would not know how to define Monae's music as, by blending and drawing from many styles, she is capable of creating a hybrid which is a new stylish patchwork genre.

- Love her, feel like I came in late to this party though. She must not have gotten too much publicity early on, but caught that she was actually in the song "We Are Young" by Fun.
Another woman I like that I'm a little late into is Estelle, you may want to check her out.
