Janey Lee Grace on Wikipedia

This Wikipedia article is interesting but needs updating as there's not much info about what Janey is doing now. Perhaps I should go and edit it!

What Wikipedia doesn't tell you about the Imperfectly Natural Woman

Janey Lee Grace is also Always Juggling!

Since 1999 Janey has appeared with Steve Wright and Tim Smith on BBC Radio 2's most sucessfull daytime programme 'Steve Wright in the Afternoon'.

Janey became a spokesperson for all things natural as a result of the many hundreds of emails she received on the Steve Wright Show and this resulted in her first book "The Imperfectly Natural Woman", which became a No 1 best seller at Amazon. Janey continues the imperfectly natural theme with her latest books and audio CDs.

On her website Janey says: "Radio, is an addiction for me, as 'spreading the holistic word' has also become. Someone once asked me, 'if you won a million pounds, what would you do?' "Well, I'd be writing books, and on the Radio !"

Janey lives in Hertfordshire with her husband and four children.

Three reasons to read Janey's Imperfectly Natural Woman and other books

Three is not enough but here goes....

1. She does what Squidoo does! Janey has spent a long time researching natural alternatives to all those chemicals and not such good ingredients in all those every day items we use and surround ourselves with. You can find it all in her books. No need to spend hours search on the web trying to find the stuff that you know exists if only you had the time to find it.

2. Janey's books are very easy to read. Either start at page 1 or dip in and out of various chapters that particularly interest you.

3. Janey is totally committed to recommending only those products she has personally tried and knows that they work for her and her family, so you know you can trust what she says.

This website is full of tips and news to help you become more "natural". There's also a forum where members swap tips and can post questions they need answering.

Just three ways to become more natural

AND you'll save money as well

1. Go nuts! Clean your laundry as Nature intended. Use soap nuts!

Sourced from trees grown in India and Nepal, the shells of these nuts contain "Saponin", which is a natural soap. All you do is put approx 6 shells in a small cotton bag, or even a knotted sock, throw them in the drum and wash as normal. They are economical and cost much, much less per wash than standard washing powders or tablets, as you can use the nuts for up to 6 washes. Then you just put them on the composter.

I've tried them and they really do work!

2. Use coconut oil for moisturising AND cooking!

It's good enough to eat, but it is also good enough to put on your skin. Don't worry, you wont smell as though you have just come off the beach, as it only has a faint smell and it is not at all greasy.

As for cooking, Janey says in her book 'The Imperfectly Natural Woman' that "coconut oil is now being recognised by the medical community as a powerful tool against immune diseases."

3. Use Green Cleaning Products

Aim to have a cleaning cupboard that you don't have to lock to make sure the children don't come to any harm. The fact that we have to lock these hazardous chemical mixes away, tells us how harmful they can be, not just to us but to the environment as well.

Either buy natural cleaning products or you can even make them. See below for a "recipe" and there's more in the books.

Natural healing

The sweet alternative to antibiotics!

In her book Imperfectly Natural Woman and on her website, Janey describes many different products that she uses on herself and on her family. Probably one of the most remarkable products she has used is Manuka honey. This is what Janey says on her website:

"Two years ago my eldest son, who was 9yrs old at the time, had both his big toe nails removed. It was all relatively straight forward and despite a few misgivings I dutifully followed the after care programme laid out by the hospital.

Initially everything was fine but after the first few weeks an infection set in. He was prescribed an antibiotic cream that seemed to have an enormous list of contra-indications and side effects. I couldn't bring myself to use it on him so we started applying a smearing of Manuka honey to his dressings and the improvement within a few days was absolutely amazing. There was no need to return to the clinic again and I'm certain he made a speedier recovery than he would have done if we'd applied the cream prescribed."

Natural toothpaste recipe

From The Imperfectly Natural Woman

In her book "Imperfectly Natural Woman", Janey raises the issue of adding fluoride into drinking water. She points out that flouride is a toxin, a by-product of aluminium that has been linked with Alzheimer's disease.

If you want to use a natural toothpaste, Janey recommends:

Mix 3/4 cup of baking soda with 1/2 a cup of sea salt
add 2 teaspoons of glycerine and enough water to make a paste

After brushing teeth, rinse well and gargle.

The Imperfectly Natural Home's ultra cheap bathroom cleaner

Cheap cola does have its uses!

Would you believe it! For a badly stained toilet, Janey recommends buying a very cheap bottle of cola, empty into the toilet and leave overnight. She says: "it works a treat!"

I hate to think what cola does to our teeth!

For a cheap and natural cleaner, Janey suggests:

1 1/2 cups bicarbonate of soda mixed with 1 cup of filtered or distilled water
2 tablespoons white wine vinegar or lemon juice
1/2 drop of essential oil

Mix it up and put it in an empty plastic bottle.
