In early 2008, I literally stumbled upon Squidoo when looking for a totally unrelated site. I have one of those inquisitive minds so I poked around and decided to try my hand at writing a lens. That was the beginning of my addiction. I think we need a warning at Squidoo when new users create an account clearly stating that Squidoo is the 'crack' of the internet! You know you're addicted when you are conversing with someone or simply reading the paper when you think to yourself - that would be a great lens topic.

Writing lenses has been a very satisfying experience. Not only do I get to share some of my knowledge and tips, but I get to feel a sense of accomplishment at creating a one-of-a-kind lens on my own. The biggest challenge has been using HTML to effectively present photos. I love learning new things so doing my own lenses and reading all the great lenses from others has been a true pleasure.

In this lensography, I group together my lenses so that anyone could clearly see where my interests lie. I've also tried to share some of my personal favorites like books, movies and TV shows.

Lens of the Day Honors

On October 6, 2008, my Top 10 Chateaux of the Loire Valley lens was chosen as lens of the day. I was thrilled to be bestowed such an honor!

Since travel is my true passion, it seems those lenses are the ones that I spend the most time on and this LOTD was no exception. In fact, I had to do this lens twice because for some reason, the entire lens got wiped out during my first publish. I took a week off and a breather and started it again and it looks like it was a good thing that I just sucked it up.

I Became A Giant Squid on October 7, 2008

After writing lens at a feverish pace in September, I was able to meet the 50 quality lens requirement for the quarterly giant squid review on September 30th.

I was honored to be chosen as a giant squid. Special thanks to GypsyPirate, RMS, and BDKZ for all of their encouragement and comments!

Also - I have to give a special thanks to my hubby who helped me come up with some fun lens ideas and tolerated my countless hours in front of the computer writing.

I joined the Giant 100 Club in July 2009

I spent 2009 in Giant Summer School

The Giant Squid Organizers put on a class for all the giant squids at Squidoo in the Summer of '09. The class lasted eight weeks with one assignment doled out each week. In addition, every day during the 8 weeks, we giants received a valuable Squidoo tip from the organizers, Megan or Seth.

All in all, school was a great experience. It definintely stretched my imagination as some of the assignments were not things that I would normally write about. Things like my prized possession, local restaurants and activities, and a book recommendation lens were just a few of the assignments. I was thrilled to make it all the way through school to receive this badge as a little graduation gift.

    Congratulations - not only on your Giant Squidshipness - but also for all the very well-earned recognition on your many gorgeous lenses!

    You really are an inspiration! And you are right... You know you're hooked when you see or read something and think "Hmmm this would be a great lens!" I've started to do that too (but have a long way to go!).
