Janieruth's Fabulous to Funky Finds
Selling Antiques and Collectibles since 1990 in LA (Lower Alabama and since 1997 on eBay. Please stop by to check out my most recent Estate, Flea Market and Antiques Stall Finds.
I have recently expanded my eBay business by buiding a store. My house and storage rooms are overflowing with Estate, Garage Sale, Flea Market and Antique Stall finds, so I HAVE to do something! LOL! My goal is to list, list, list, so please check and bookmark my eBay store. I still have a stall in one local mall, The Montgomery Antique Gallery.
I have a couple of feline assistants who drape themselves over the keyboard from time to time. They believe that they are a great help and encouragement, but really, they are just not that helpful.
If you are looking to find decorative antiques, uniques or just fun funky OLD items, please give my store a browse. You just never know what janieruth has in store for you!
Thanks so much for dropping by my lens to check me out.
Please be sure to sign my guest book and vote in the poll "Where do you find your Antique Treasures?" below to let us know where you make your own Fabulous Finds, then add your favorite find to the list - "What is the best thing you ever found at an Estate Sale?"

This week's fabulous to funky Estate Finds
From Estates across Lower Alabama (LA)
Fabulous to Funky FindsI have been out of pocket for a while due to my son's wedding! Christopher and his precious Julie were married on April 13, 2008 in a beautiful garden ceremony. If you know me, you realize that I did not wear beige nor was I able to keep my mouth shut. We had so much fun!
Just in from this current week's ESTATE SALES are two of the nicest collections
that I have had the pleasure to offer in quite a while.
The first is a large assortment of Copeland Antique China in the Dark Flowing Blue of the pattern Spode's Tower. This is a beautiful pattern that has been offered by Copeland and Spode for over 100 years in different productions. The dark Flow Blue is from the 1800s and is just a Fabulous addition to any Traditional or English Country Decor.
I am offering several different sizes in plates, from the small 5 3/8" Butter plates to the beautiful 9 3/8" Luncheon Plates, both these sizes are hard to find, so take advantage of my Buy it Now, fixed price on these and many other pieces. Here is what the Spode Web site has to say about the history of this pattern.
Tower Pattern was derived from the printed illustration in Merigot's 'Views of Rome and its Vicinity' published in about 1796. Tower depicts the Bridge of Salaro near Porta Salara, Rome. The bridge which originally had a keep built on top of it survives today although it is now unfortunately underneath the main route leading out of Rome to the airport. Tower pattern has been produced in a variety of colours over the years and is still made today in pink and blue. The pattern was used to decorate a huge variety of objects besides tableware.
In the 1860s, Tower was produced in a darker, 'flowing' blue which became very popular and soon after this produced on Gadroon shape which was copied from Georgian silver and it is this shape which is still used today.

Important Estate Find! George Jensen Acorn Sterling Silver
Also at Janieruth's Fabulous to Funky Finds this Week, you will find this Stunning Sterling Silver in the highly collectible pattern Acorn, by Danish Maker, Georg Jensen. I did a little research for you and here is what I learned:
The popular Acorn pattern was designed by Johan Rohde in 1915. The Acorn pattern, with its unique combination of subtle lines and striking ornamentation, swiftly became world-renowned. Rohde was probably the most influential of all the designers who worked at Georg Jensen and the Acorn pattern is the most popular of all of Jensen's flatware designs, still in production today.
You will find over 30 pieces of this pattern in the store this week. Again, combine wins and save on shipping - combined orders over $100.00 shipped Free in the Lower 48!

Remember, after the Lone Ranger rode off into the sunset someone would always exclaim "Who was that masked man?" - NOW, who are the people populating janieruth's banner?
The little girl is my Momma, Mabel Wing McCoy, this photo was taken in the 1920's, I call it "When my momma was a Chinese Girl", The beautiful Lady in the white dress is my Grandmomma, Madge Clark Wing, I think that this is her wedding dress, it was a gorgeous handmade concoction, she grew up and was married in Jamestown, TN and my Grandaddy Wing courted her in a buggy. FYI Jamestown is the founding place and epicenter of The World's Longest Yard Sale! I am a member of the Wing Family of America who settled the Sandwich, MA area in the 1630's. You can still visit the family home there, the Wing Fort House. The cutie to the left on the hood of the car is my Mother-in-Law, Mary Allen Reding, and her photo was taken in the 1940's near the family Orange Groves in central Florida - she was a hottie! We lost her in 1998, and miss her to this day!

There are many great collector's sites out there
- Replacements, Ltd
- Massive seller of discontinued china, crystal and silver. Their databases are fabulous and you can search by photos if you need to ID a particular pattern.
- Marks 4 Ceramics
- This is a paid member site, but well worth it if you are trying to identify that obscure china or pottery mark.
- Blue Ridge
- If you love Blue Ridge Hand Painted China, this is the place for you. All patterns are listed and pictured. This is a free site.
- Just Glass Online
- Help with all types of antique and depression era glass.
- Reproduction News
- This is another paid site that lists all of the known reproductions of popular collectibles. It is a very rewarding site that tells you how to spot a fake or reproduction.
- North Carolina Pottery
- North Carolina Pottery is HOT! and sometimes very hard to ID. This is a great site showing signatures and clay types.
- Silver Collecting
- Excellent resource for finding more about American marks on silver as well as silver plate.
- Vintage Fiesta Price Guide
- If you are like me, you LOVE the great old mix and match pottery from the 1930s, 40s and 50s. Fiesta is of course the queen bee of the group. This is a great place to get an idea of what your piece is worth.
- Japanese Porcelain Marks
- A good place to learn about the Japanese porcelain marks of the 20th century.
- Glass Factory Marks on Bottles
- For the Bottle Collectors, a compendeum of marks.
- The Pyre-X Files
- Tongue in cheek site for the Pyrex collector. Lists many if not all patterns "somewhere out there".
- David Doty's Carnival Glass
- Gorgeous site with many, many photos of old Carnival Glass.
- Sparkles Vintage Costume Jewelry
- This site will make the Vintage Rhinestone Jewelry Collector drool, so grab a towel.
