POPjisyo.com: Alex Schonfeld's useful resource allows you to visit website pages written in Japanese, scroll over words, and get translations in English (and
vice-versa, of course).
Rikai.com: Todd Rudick's earlier version of the same type of Java-enabled system.
jeKai: The jeKai Japanese-English dictionary project - a great resource from many contributors.
Joe's JLPT Page: This is a great site for those preparing to take the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (yes, JLPT).

Software to help you Study

Mayjay: Excellent download that you should have on your computer. Available for Mac/Windows/Linux, free and easy to use. A truly essential resource.
Japanese for your Mac: Resources to add JL functionality to Macintosh comptuers.
Kotoba: Software for your Macintosh (not available for Windows).
Ocha no Kanji: Another neat-looking piece of software I have yet to try.
Moji: The moji project aims to help foreigners learning Japanese language to read web pages. The main goal is to add lecture guides to chinese characters (kanji) and translations. It is a Mozilla Firefox & Thunderbird & SeaMonkey extension.
