Great lens, all you need to know about javelin

I threw javelin in both high school and college and I have to say I've had very few almost-technically-perfect throws... its like once you try to focus on one thing, another thing goes out the window. Its such a great sport though because when you do get those great throws, they feel amazing!

An awesome lens - I thouroghly enjoyed it.

A few tips for improvement though:- In "Training Techniques, you have this line "SPECIFICALLY FOR CHILDREN: As throwing the javelin inevitable requires a lot of running " Perhaps the word "Inevitable" would be better as "Inevitably".

Featured lenses might be better at the bottom of your lens, too because there's no way am I going to scroll all the way back up to go to the next relevent lens - which is a great shame as there are good lenses in there.

Guest book would be better at the bottom, that wiki on Javelin will just get missed.

Whenever I hear javelin, I cringe. I remember a video of an official getting pierced in the leg, but still marking the spot. That's tough! Nice lens.

Cool lens! I was always awful at javelin in school... but if you need sporting goods then make a note of the coupon code AFEMMA15, as it's worth 15% off all orders of $50 or more at Eastbay.com, and so could save you money :)

This is my first year in track and im throwing jav. In my first scrimmage I got 32m or 104 feet. Im having trouble shifting momentum from my legs to my arms. Every throw I feel like my shoulder is breaking for the last week or so. Any thoughts?

try moving your arm as fast as possible when throwing, choose a point to focus on and follow through fully

Thanks for your comment Steve. You are never too old for athletics! Just so you know at least 3 of my students are over 75!!!!

Interesting unique idea for a Lens. Bit toooo old now for athletics, but great info. I'll pass it on to my nephew who is a keen athlete.

Very thorough regarding content, easy to read, and enjoyable (even for a non-track and field athlete like myself). Thanks for the excellent info!

Only discovered javelin throwing 4 months ago at the tender age of 43, when my 12 year old twin daughters where introduced to it after doing shot putt for several years. To my surprise I am quite good for a novice with an average 25 meter throw and improving all the time and have now been asked to compete for the Wigan Harriers in the seniors. I have learned a quite a bit form watching and reading on this site and wish I had found this sport many years ago.
