Nice lens, she was my idol in the 1950's, I was a teenager then. Thanks for sharing, it brought back memories. Blessed.

She was definitely a beauty, with brains to match. The thing I love about her is that in her movies, she didn't take herself too seriously, even to the point of making fun of herself, which was uproariously funny! :)

    Nice selection of photos!

We don't expect tragedy to happen to people we idolize
  • KimGiancaterino Sep 14, 2010 @ 2:14 pm | delete
She was so beautiful ... such a tragedy that she died so young and didn't get to see her children grow up.

I didn't know much about her although I've heard her name all my life. She's a striking beauty.

They just don't "make" movie stars like Mansfield anymore. Great tribute lens!

I was a big fan of Mansfield when I was a kid. Her death was tragic. I had no idea that she was also brainy. That's great to know. Thanks for telling the world.

She was gorgeous. I think her daughter is equally as beautiful.

Very smart and tragic woman. She knew what she had to do to make it in the 50's-60's, but it also never got her where she wanted to be.

I hope she saw Mariska get her Emmy!

jayne stole my heart as a teenager and nobody and i mean nobody can ever replace her as my number 1 girl.

Jane certainly looks a whole lot of woman. I think I've only seen one of her films but those 50's stars had something special about them. I think my favourite though (because of my dad) is Brigitte Bardot.

This a beautiful tribute to a gorgeous woman. Julie, what a wonderful job you did. I didn't know a lot about her before this lens.
  • Margo_Arrowsmith Jul 18, 2009 @ 5:05 pm | delete
You can see Mariska in the eyes of the first picture.

When she got her Emmy, I knew her mother was so proud, her daughter accomplished what they wouldn't let her do.
