The Brecker Brothers (Some Skunk Funk - Live In Barcelona 1992)

Michael Brecker - one of the most inspiring of the "contemporary" tenor saxophonists.......unfortunately no longer with us. Man, I bought this video a few years back, I heard this solo, and I wasn't sure whether to go grab my horn and practice, or go grab my horn and throw it in the river!!

Just push "play"......you'll see (and hear) what I mean.....his technique on the horn is (was) truly amazing.

PS - I decided to keep my horn after all.

John Coltrane - "On Green Dolphin Street"

I would be remiss if I didn't post something by John Coltrane......unquestionably, one of the greatest jazz saxophonists to walk the planet.......EVER.

Yamaha Canada Music
I'm very happy to be involved with the Yamaha Corporation (Canada) and
to be playing their new "82Z" design saxophone. This horn is truly the
best Yamaha design I have ever played and one of the top professional
horns on the market.......check it out.
SR Technologies Saxophone Mouthpieces
I'm a "newfound" believer in these mouthpieces. The SR Technologies "Fusion 115" mouthpiece I use on tenor is one of the most "free blowing" that I have ever tried. I thought I was going to be playing my Phil Barone tenor mouthpiece for a long time, but "SR" has swayed me and I am pleasently surprised. Highly recommended!!
Jazz Quintet "Verismo"
I always have a great time playing with these guys. It's such a great vehicle for writing and recording and doing great gigs like the Montreal Jazz Festival. We're discussing a second CD recording, so I'll keep you posted about when that's going to happen.
Primetime Big Band
This group keeps me busy and the guys have a lot of great fun
George Robert's Webpage
I first met George in 1988 while he was on tour with trumpeter Tom Harrell and we have stayed in touch since then. He's a great friend, an awesome human being, and he can play his ass off!!
Bob Mintzer's Webpage
Bob is a great guy to hang out with, and holy crap can he play!!
Kirk MacDonald's Webpage
This is the homepage of Toronto tenor saxophonist Kirk MacDonald, one of Canada's premier jazz artists, 1999 "Juno Award" winner, and someone who I was also fortunate enough to have been able to include on my CD along with Bobby Shew and Paul Wertico. Kirk's site has a whole bunch of information about him and what he's up to. This guy is definitely worth checking out.
Bob Sheppard's Webpage
If you're looking to check out any heavy "west coast" saxophonists, it would be a big mistake to not check out Bob Sheppard. If he's not on the road with Natalie Cole or Steeley Dan or who knows who else, he's got his own thing going.....and it's VERY cool. This guy can PLAY!!
Mike Tomaro's Webpage
Mike Tomaro is one of the most down to earth and friendly guys you could ever meet. He's a fantastic saxophonist and band leader, and writes excellent charts for "Doug Beach Music", "Hal Leonard Publications" and for "Kendor Music Publishing". Mike is "Head of Jazz Studies" at Duquesne University In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is an "in demand" clinician and adjudicator as well. His site hasn't been updated in awhile, but do stop by and see what he's all about anyway!!
Paul Wertico's Webpage
What a great guy....period, and a killer drummer. I first heard Paul live in a club in Chicago called "Andy's" in the early 1990's when I was touring, and his playing just "knocked me out". I loved what he did with the Pat Metheny Group for the years he was with them, and also what he continues to do today. Each time I've played with him he's kicked my ass and it has been so cool!!
Bobby Shew's Webpage
Los Angeles based trumpet/flugelhornist Bobby Shew is a featured guest
on my CD. Bobby Shew is a "world class" artist and person, and is very devoted to jazz education throughout the world. Bobby's page contains much information about him including: tour schedule, biography, discography, sound bytes, press clippings etc.
Jeff Jarvis' Webpage
This is the homepage of trumpeter Jeff Jarvis. On top of being an "in demand" musician, performer, and educator, Jeff is "Director of Jazz Studies" at California State University Long Beach, the CEO of, and a "staff writer" for, "Kendor Music Publications" as well as an "Artist/Clinician" for the Yamaha Musical Instrument Company (USA). Jeff is a cool human-being, and a sincere pleasure to hang with and to listen to.
