Ranked #41,129 in Home & Garden, #713,865 overall

Is it time to take a look in your kitchen?

We will take a look at some of the options you can use to revamp your kitchen backsplash and bring your kitchen to life. You spend a lot of time in the kitchen, why not make it an attractive place to be?

Let's Take a Look

Take a look in your kitchen, more specifically at the kitchen backsplash. Do you shrug your shoulders, twitch your nose, and say "It's ok I guess"?

Ok? Is that all there is to the one area of your kitchen that is a blank canvas? The one place that is capable of expressing the entire kitchen?

C'mon, we can you better than that. The backsplash, when done with creativity and imagination, can bring the kitchen to life. It is not enough to be functional, creativity awaits.

Putting your creativity (or someone else's) to work, you will discover that the possibilities are almost endless.

There are so many types of materials that can make up a backsplash, with many that go well in combination with each other. There is no limit to the different colors, designs, and textures that you can use to make up your backsplash.

Let's go through some kitchen backsplash ideas of the possible materials and designs that are being used to create the beautiful backdrop to many modern kitchens.

Ceramic Tile
The gold standard for many years as a step up from the one-piece Formica countertop. A ceramic tile backsplash used to be very boring with bland colors and texture. Today's ceramic tile can be a very beautiful display of color, texture, and size. When blended together with creativity, ceramic tile can add rich beauty to your kitchen.

Glass Tile
My favorite, glass tile is a fabulous choice for a kitchen counter backsplash. Glass brings depth and brilliant color to any space and will help brighten the area. You can buy glass tiles made from new glass or from recycled glass. The tiles themselves are usually small but come adhered in mesh much like that of small ceramic tiles. This makes them easier to handle and can be trimmed to fit anywhere.

A glass tile kitchen counter backsplash will be a bit more expensive, but it is very beautiful and worth the extra money.

Stainless steel or other metals
Using stainless steel or other metal makes for a durable look to your kitchen backsplash. Stainless steel in the kitchen has become very popular in the last few years and provides a very clean look.

Copper and tin can also be used. One word of warning though, they will need to be periodically cleaned with a special cleaner.

Granite and other stone
Another of my favorites is using a stone look to your backsplash. Some types used are travertine, marble, granite, and slate.

These usually come in larger pieces and looks best when covering the entire back wall from the countertop up to the cabinets.
The texture of the stone may be a little harder to clean so make sure you are thinking of cleaning when making your selection.

The rest is now up to you. You spend a lot of time in the kitchen so take the time to think through your choices because your new kitchen counter backsplash is going to be around for a long time.
