JCP Rewards

The department store JCPenney offers a free rewards program called JCP Rewards. This lets you earn points every time you shop at JCPenney, at their store, online, or in their catalog. Many other retailers offer this kind of program. When you sign-up you assign your jcp rewards account to either a credit card or a debit card that you already own. This way you don't have to carry around an extra card, but you will only receive points when you complete your purchase with your assigned card.

I remember when I was in college and my professor asked us why we thought Kroger was using their Plus program. I naturally thought it was so people could save money and would shop their more, but he said it was because they used to for market research to see which demographics bought items.

Either way it's an easy way to get a discount in my book.

How To Earn Points

  • Receive one point for each dollar you spend at JCPenney retail outlets, jcp.com, and their catalog.
  • When you spend money in one month the next month you will get two points for each dollar spent.
  • The double point reward will be available after every month you spend at least one dollar.
  • You will receive a printable gift card for ten dollars in your email after you reach 250 points.
  • Receive an additional twenty-five percent points when you use your JCPenney credit card and rewards card together.
  • Points expire each month they are accumulated in.
  • Points do not rollover to the next month. You will start out each month with zero points.
  • Gift cards earned from points expire on the last day of the month you received it in.

I like these programs

So really it's only a one or two percent discount, but still, I'm a pretty frugal person and something is better than nothing in my opinion. The kindof sucky thing with this program is the points expire every month so unless you spend $250 in one month or have double points one month and only spend $125 you won't receive a gift card.

You also will receive special ads in your email that will tell you of jcp reward members only sale days and discounts.

Let's talk about it!

You don't have to spend $250 a month in all cases, there is a 25% increase n points if you use a JCPenney card and each month there are certain items that qualify for 50 bonus points for the month. You could spend as little as $50 to receive the $10 coupons!
