Jeane L. Dixon is the most popular American astrologer. She was born in 1904; Jeane was part of that generation where taking the psychic help was a norm. She has been credited for many true predictions, and has gained a cult status over the years. Even after her death in 1997, her books are still considered to be best source of information and guidance by many on the astrology and psychics. She has been the pioneer for creating public interest in astrology, and has been recipient of highest fan mail more then any other celebrity, and millions readers avidly read her syndicated columns daily

Early Life

There is some controversy over the birth year; some consider it to be 1910, while most of the evidence suggests its 1904. Dixon was born in Medford, but most of her early years were spent in the Missouri and California. Her family migrated from Germany and she kept the German traditions alive throughout her childhood. From young age her parents Gerhard and Emma encouraged her interest in the astrology and gypsy culture. Dixon's life as a child was carefree; her father owned an automobile shop. She was the god child of famous television and film producer Hal Roach, who was also partner in the auto business. The first sighting of her psychic abilities came into light at age of 10 when a gypsy fortune teller told her that she had the power to see and give advice to powerful people.

Marriage & Career

Jeane got married to James Dixon. Her marriage to James Dixon is seen as huge turning point in her career. Till his death she worked as president of her husband's firm. This was a happy marriage, although she did not have any children. They raised many orphans and homeless children. Often Jeane and James supported many charities and orphanages. She started the psychic reading mostly for her circle of friends, many of her readings came true and soon she was asked for giving psychic readings regarding people and events.

Predication about JFK Assassination

Her first national prediction was the assassination of JFK. Her prediction was published in the Parade magazine. This was not her first true predication. Initially, she had predicated that president Richard Nixon will win. She has been said to have gained much fame for her one true prediction but so many others didn't came true. This is still known as the Jeane Dixon effect.

Jeane Dixon Best Seller Books

Jeane Dixon was on the bestseller list more than ten times. Her famous books include numerous autobiographies, horoscope books, astrology guides for dogs and pets, cook books and most famous newspaper column. Her first book to hit the stands was "A Gift of Prophecy" This was published in 1965. The book went best sellers in days and more then three million copies were sold. Dixon was a devout Christian and attended the church religiously, even though she had married a divorced man, a practice not encouraged at that time. Strangely enough her faith did not stop her from telling fortune with crystal balls also. She attributed her gift to God. With in very short time, she gained the reputation of being most sought after psychic in the country.

My Life and Prophecies

The next book was "My Life and Prophecies". The book went best seller in just few weeks. There was a controversy related to this book, and then a small time writer, Adele Fletcher, sued Dixon for the book being based on his manuscript. This went to court, and five percent of royalties were awarded to him in the end. Dixon was very active in political prophecies also, she was the advisor to the President Nixon, and was called "the soothsayer", by him. She continued to serve the white house in the Regan presidency too. It is known that Nancy Reagan used to ask her advice for most of her decisions.

Jeane Dixon Effect

Jeane Dixon Effect is the term coined by the Temple University. This was seen as a way to promote the few correct predictions and ignoring the large number of incorrect ones. There are many of her predictions that did not make it, like World War III, Walter Ruther, and Russia to put the man on Moon first. Jeane Dixon passed away in 1997; she left many of her belongings to the charity and church. Her last few days were spent in the Sibley Hospital, in Washington, D.C. Her legacy was left to the banker friend, Bernstein. The Jeane Dixon Museum was opened in Strasburg, Virginia. After Bernstein passed away, the possessions were auctioned, the whole 500 boxes.

    Jean Dixon's predictions used to be in our daily paper, I think everyone must have heard of her.

    I have heard her radio show and it is scary the things she can tell about people even over the phone.
