Baby Boomers Retirement Funds

Baby Boomers Lose their Retirement Funds

Baby boomers retiring around this period are losing their retirement and pension funds to the financial crisis. Headline: total funding of US pension plans dropped by $303 billion, to suffer a $217-billion deficit. The reason is that many businesses strapped for cash are using the funds intended for their employees' pension schemes to invest in securities. Other companies underfund their pension plans to shift the costs to the federal government, which is hard put as well to shoulder the responsibility.

What can the baby boomers and retirees do? Where to go to attain financial independence after employment? The answer may be a second work life in Internet marketing, which is also drawing younger businessmen and employees hit hard by the financial meltdown. An after-employment venture in online marketing may be just what the new retirees with diminished retirement benefits needed.

A recent survey commissioned by the Merrill Lynch group reveals that 76 percent of retiring baby boomers want to keep working and earning in retirement. This means that only a minuscule 17 percent of the baby boomers hope to never work again for pay. When asked about their ideal work setup in retirement, 42 percent said they want to mix work and leisure, 16 percent prefer only part-time work, 13 percent desire to start their own business, and 6 percent eye full-time work.

Only Internet marketing provides the opportunities for retirees to work and yet relax at the same time, have part-time or full-time work and, most important, start one's own business. There's just nothing in the conventional marketplace or workplace that allows such a leeway for anyone. And starting one's own business is a doubtful proposition for a retiree unsure of getting his retirement benefits in full.

All the baby boomers and retirees need to succeed in online marketing are the right tools and strategies available from marketing systems that go out of their way to educate and guide newcomers. Find a large marketing community that leverages the activity of each member through affiliate partners and experienced producers.
