Jeff Buckely: A Great American Singer/Songwriter and Guitarist

 Jeff Buckley was a great musician who died so very young. And yes he was drop, dead gorgeous. (Sorry for the bad pun)

Ten years now after his death, his music still brings lots of happiness to millions of us around the 4 corners of the globe. If you've never heard of him before well you're in for a real treat with this lense.

Jeff-Buckley-Grace

Jeff Buckley is the tear that hangs inside our souls forever.

Jason Castro from American Idol fame has sung "Hallelujah" for the finale show. He did a very good version but it will never top the Jeff Buckley version in my opinion. Very well done by Jason Castro

Jeff Buckley and Hallelujah

A gifted singer and musician unlike any other

Jeff Buckley was a young artist who sadly only released one album - Grace - in 1994 while he was alive. He was in the process of releasing his second one when he died.

Even with the promise of grand career and life ahead of him, the music he left behind is stunning and great. He still continues to inspire new artists today with new music and those who do covers of his music with great respect.

Jeff Buckley lives on. Still.

"Grace."
Achingly beautiful music put out by Jeff Buckley and none quite as beautiful as this one. "Grace" is the name of his first album released in 1994.

~~~~~
"There's the moon asking to stay
Long enough for the clouds to fly me away
Well it's my time coming, i'm not afraid to die
My fading voice sings of love,
But she cries to the clicking of time
Of time"
Hallelujah was named "one of the great songs" by Time magazine and was included in Rolling Stone's "The 500 Greatest Songs of Al
Hallelujah. Words can't express the deep beauty of this song ......
This song "Hallelujah" written by Leonard Cohen, has been covered oh so many times by many different artists.
But alas, none so great as by the great Jeff Buckley. Listen and you decide. Here's are Jeff's versions.
The first video is a live recorded featuring Jeff and his band. The second video is the recorded CD version made by a fan with the songs lyrics.
~~~~~

"Well I heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do ya?
Well it goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah"

Hallelujah! 2 more Jeff Buckley versions

Because you can never have enough versions of Jeff singing this (or any other) song.

Found the first one from the Guardian's site. Very nice version of this classic song with rarely seen footage of Jeff.

"Well baby I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew ya
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah "

Version #2 here is quite sweet as well. Such a treat to see Jeff performing live.

"Well there was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me do you?
And remember when I moved in you?
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah"

Great Stuff on Amazon

Grace

Grace was his first full album release. The others were all released after his death and without his approval.
The is the most amazing piece of music that introduced us to THAT VOICE - ethereal, free and wide ranging. This one album has left a profound effect on music. It's sublime and deep influence is STILL being felt today and still influencing young musicians today. Genius piece of work.
