Jefferson And The Republican Party
Jefferson Constitutional Republicanism is what our founders built this country on. We have since voted for people that have proceeded to take the rights of the citizens away from them. Jefferson said, "I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than those attending too small a degree of it." Me too.
But a lot of liberty is gone already, will it get worse? Hmmm...hope not.
Another revolution over an abusive government may be in the making. Suit up!
Thomas Jefferson and The Democratic-Republican Party
A very brief history.
- Jefferson was a leader in developing republicanism in the United States. He insisted that the British aristocratic system was inherently corrupt and that Americans' devotion to civic virtue required independence. In the 1790s he repeatedly warned that Hamilton and Adams were trying to impose a British-like monarchical system that threatened republicanism. He supported the War of 1812, hoping it would drive away the British military and ideological threat from Canada. Jefferson's vision for American virtue was that of an agricultural nation of yeoman farmers minding their own affairs. It stood in contrast to the vision of Alexander Hamilton, who envisioned a nation of commerce and manufacturing, which Jefferson said offered too many temptations to corruption. Jefferson's deep belief in the uniqueness and the potential of America made him the father of American exceptionalism. In particular, he was confident that an under-populated America could avoid what he considered the horrors of class-divided, industrialized Europe.
- His opposition to the Bank of the United States was fierce: "I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale." Nevertheless Madison and Congress, seeing the financial chaos caused by the lack of a national bank in the War of 1812, disregarded his advice and created the Second Bank of the United States in 1816.
- Jefferson believed that each individual has "certain inalienable rights." That is, these rights exist with or without government; man cannot create, take, or give them away. It is the right of "liberty" on which Jefferson is most notable for expounding. He defines it by saying "rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." Hence, for Jefferson, though government cannot create a right to liberty, it can indeed violate it. And the limit of an individual's rightful liberty is not what law says it is but is simply a matter of stopping short of prohibiting other individuals from having the same liberty. A proper government, for Jefferson, is one that not only prohibits individuals in society from infringing on the liberty of other individuals, but also restrains itself from diminishing individual liberty.
- In the Preamble to his original draft of the Declaration of Independence, Jefferson wrote: " We hold these truths to be sacred & undeniable; that all men are created equal & independent, that from that equal creation they derive rights inherent & inalienable, among which are the preservation of life, & liberty, & the pursuit of happiness; that to secure these ends, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government shall become destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, & to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles & organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety & happiness."
- Democratic-Republican Party was founded by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison in 1792. The term Democratic-Republican is a historian's usage. Its members identified the party as the Republicans, Jeffersonians, Democrats, or combinations of these (Jeffersonian Republicans, etc.). It was the dominant political party in the United States from 1800 to 1824, when it split into competing factions, one of which became the modern Democratic Party.
- Jefferson and Madison created the party in order to oppose the economic and foreign policies of the Federalists, a party created a year or so earlier by Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton. Foreign policy issues were central. The Democratic-Republican party opposed the Jay Treaty of 1794 with Britain (then at war with France) and supported good relations with France before 1801. The party insisted on a strict construction of the Constitution, and denounced many of Hamilton's proposals (especially the national bank) as unconstitutional. The party promoted states' rights and the primacy of the yeoman farmer over bankers, industrialists, merchants, and other monied interests. From 1792 to the beginning of Madison's second term, the party opposed such Federalist policies as high tariffs, a navy, military spending, a national debt, and a national bank. After the military defeats of the War of 1812, however, the party split on these issues. Jeffersonian purists, or "Old Republican" wing of the party, led by Jefferson, John Randolph of Roanoke, William H. Crawford and Nathaniel Macon, favored low tariffs, states rights, strict construction of the Constitution and reduced spending. It opposed a standing army or navy. The "National Republicans", led by Madison, Henry Clay, John Quincy Adams and John C. Calhoun, eventually favored higher tariffs, a stronger national defense, and "internal improvements" (public works projects).] After the Federalist party broke up in 1815, many former members joined the D-R's nationalist faction.
The party's elected presidents were Thomas Jefferson (1800 and 1804), James Madison (1808 and 1812), and James Monroe (1816 and 1820). The party dominated Congress and most state governments; it was weakest in New England. William H. Crawford was the party's last presidential nominee in 1824. At this time, the party broke up into several factions. One faction, led by Andrew Jackson, would become the modern Democratic Party. Another faction, led by Adams and Clay, was known as the National Republicans. This group evolved into the Whig Party.

Have you read these books? They are must reads for patriots. Orwell's Animal Farm's dystopia is upon us for the same reasons it came upon our animal friends in his prophetic novel. Fear. Fear of questioning the ruling class, fear of questioning the majority. Fear of what they would do.
Our government was founded on high ideals, birthed in blood, but heard through words. We are in a war of words today as well. Obama's words have an unseemly power in them. They have made our citizens deny what they see with their own eyes. He has proclaimed "Words Have Meaning" so many times that no matter how his actions contradict his words, we still believe them. His grand promises are very much like the revolution in Animal Farm and the resulting dystopia will resemble 1984 soon if it hasn't already begun.
Read Animal Farm and 1984 and beware of the propaganda the Ministry of Truth pumps out. Approach those that would rule over us with the proper apprehensions.
They work for us, not us for them.
Thomas Jefferson never heard of George Orwell but he did say:
"The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first."
and

We need to refresh our tree of liberty before it shrivels on the vine.

Are All ISMs Equal?

How about Marxism, Socialism, Fascism, Communism, Totalitarianism, Authoritarianism, and Capitalism just to name a few.
All ISMs can harm. But only one of the above ISMs has the ability to and history of benefitting mankind. Capitalism is what our founders handed down to us. It can become corrupted by allowing criminals and despots to masquerade as Capitalists. So American citizens should always be faithful in their vocation as the 'King of America' and protect our neighbors against abuse.
But the other ISMs (and there are more than those I've listed) are killers. We have had multiple examples down through the ages and in the world today. Hitler is a real obvious example of tyranny, so was Mussolini, and Stalin made those two look like saints. But so was Saddam Hussein, and the current repressive Iranian government. But many freedoms are lost in countries like France and England because of their socialistic policies.
Amazingly we see today the Iranian people crying out for freedom and liberty, and at the same time, we voted to give ours up in the November 2008 election.
Sad, but never hopeless. We can still unearth our dusty old Constitution and repair the damage of the encroaching ISMs. And it doesn't make us mean to do so.

Good Citizen Habits
Here is another lesson in basic American Government.

Here we show the side by side illustrations of the right way and the wrong way to deal with our wayward employees.
The first example speaks of what's hidden within all of us...the serious desire to wring the necks of our elected officials. But that would be illegal. And while we all agree that a lot of people could use a good neck wringing, and every fiber of your being is screaming for you to do it, they would probably put you in jail if you actually did strangle them. But we can all agree that they deserve it.
The second example displays the proper though more sedate method of disposing of our national thieves...THROW THE BUMS OUT! But again, we must control the overwhelming desire to KICK THE BUMS OUT! While 'kicking' would be a heck of a lot more satisfying, they'll probably put you in jail for that too.

We're American Pigs darn it. And it's high time we outsource this Bolshevik Congress and our dear leader.
Hey, can we really do that? Can we outsource the jobs of the president, senator, and representative to Bangalore along with the rest of our jobs that were shipped over there? We should look into this. We could save a ton of money by outsourcing our government and get the national debt under control. This would also show the humanitarian side of our country, by creating jobs for foreigners and they would even have to leave their native lands. They'll love us.

Now, many would like to impose a monstrous central government again, and have been succeeding at this endeavor. Many of our Congressmen and Senators, not to mention our esteemed President, suppose themselves to be kings and we their serfs. Now, that is when we say, "CUT THE CRAP!"
And our less than patriotic corporations and businesses that would rather give foreigners American jobs instead of their neighbors, that would be us. They keep telling us of this enormous worker shortage. A mythical worker shortage to be sure. To that we say, "CUT THE CRAP!"
And what about those charlatan ministers, mostly on TV, reporting to us all that God has told them 'personally', despite the fact that God's final Word to us was Jesus Christ? They tell us the amount of money that God is requiring of us, or else. But refuse to freely give us the Gospel of the forgiveness of sins for Christ's sake. Again we say, "CUT THE CRAP!"

Republicanism
Republicanism is the value system of governance that has been a major part of American civic thought since the American Revolution. It stresses liberty and rights as central values, makes the people as a whole sovereign, rejects inherited political power, expects citizens to be independent in their performance of civic duties, and is strongly inclined against corruption. American Republicanism was founded and first practiced by the Founding Fathers in the 18th century. This system was based on early Roman and English models and ideas. It formed the basis for the American Revolution and the consequential Declaration of Independence (1776) and the Constitution (1787), as well as the Gettysburg Address. It is not the same as democracy, for republicanism asserts that people have inalienable rights that cannot be voted away by a majority of voters. (Hence supermajorites were required for approval of treaties and constitutional amendments). In a government made up as a constitutional republic, the Rule of Law and clearly defined constitutional principles dictate the actual administration of government.
Conservative
The Founding Fathers created the single most important set of political ideas in American history, known as republicanism, which all groups, liberal and conservative alike, have drawn from. The Federalist Party, followers of Alexander Hamilton, developed an important variation of republicanism that can be considered conservative. Rejecting monarchy and aristocracy, they emphasized civic virtue as the core American value. The Federalists spoke for the propertied interests and the upper classes of the cities. They envisioned a modernizing land of banks and factories, with a strong army and navy.
On many issues American conservatism also derives from the republicanism of Thomas Jefferson and his followers, especially John Randolph of Roanoke and his "Old Republican" followers. They idealized the yeoman farmer as the epitome of civic virtue, warned that banking and industry led to corruption, that is to the illegitimate use of government power for private ends. Jefferson himself was a vehement opponent of what today is called "judicial activism". The Jeffersonians stressed States' Rights and small government. In the 1830-54 period the Whig Party attracted conservatives such as Daniel Webster of New England.
Jeffersonian
The Democratic-Republican Party was founded by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison in 1792. The term Democratic-Republican is a historian's usage. Its members identified the party as the Republicans, Jeffersonians, Democrats,[1] or combinations of these (Jeffersonian Republicans, etc.). It was the dominant political party in the United States from 1800 to 1824, when it split into competing factions, one of which became the modern Democratic Party.
Jefferson and Madison created the party in order to oppose the economic and foreign policies of the Federalists, a party created a year or so earlier by Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton. Foreign policy issues were central. The Democratic-Republican party opposed the Jay Treaty of 1794 with Britain (then at war with France) and supported good relations with France before 1801. The party insisted on a strict construction of the Constitution, and denounced many of Hamilton's proposals (especially the national bank) as unconstitutional. The party promoted states' rights and the primacy of the yeoman farmer over bankers, industrialists, merchants, and other monied interests. From 1792 to the beginning of Madison's second term, the party opposed such Federalist policies as high tariffs, a navy, military spending, a national debt, and a national bank. After the military defeats of the War of 1812, however, the party split on these issues. Jeffersonian purists, or "Old Republican" wing of the party, led by Jefferson, John Randolph of Roanoke, William H. Crawford and Nathaniel Macon, favored low tariffs, states rights, strict construction of the Constitution and reduced spending. It opposed a standing army or navy. The "National Republicans", led by Madison, Henry Clay, John Quincy Adams and John C. Calhoun, eventually favored higher tariffs, a stronger national defense, and "internal improvements" (public works projects). After the Federalist party broke up in 1815, many former members joined the D-R's nationalist faction.
The party's elected presidents were Thomas Jefferson (1800 and 1804), James Madison (1808 and 1812), and James Monroe (1816 and 1820). The party dominated Congress and most state governments; it was weakest in New England. William H. Crawford was the party's last presidential nominee in 1824. At this time, the party broke up into several factions. One faction, led by Andrew Jackson, would become the modern Democratic Party. Another faction, led by Adams and Clay, was known as the National Republicans. This group evolved into the Whig Party.
The Jefferson Republican Party claims to be the modern party closest in ideology to the Democratic-Republican Party and bases its platform on the writings of Jefferson. Several other parties, including the Libertarian Party and the Constitution Party, also lay claim to his heritage.
Constitution
The Constitution of the United States of America is the supreme law of the United States. It provides the framework for the organization of the United States Government. The document defines the three main branches of the government: The legislative branch with a bicameral Congress, an executive branch led by the President, and a judicial branch headed by the Supreme Court. Besides providing for the organization of these branches, the Constitution carefully outlines which powers each branch may exercise. It also reserves numerous rights for the individual states, thereby establishing the United States' federal system of government. It is the shortest and oldest written constitution of any major sovereign state.
Capitalism
Capitalism is an economic system and a form of society, in which resources and enterprises are controlled by private power, as opposed to control by a state or by the public as a whole. A capitalist political system protects the exchange and distribution of capital between legal or private persons, which are driven by competition and profit-maximization, and where investments, distribution, income, production and pricing of goods, commodities and services are predominantly determined through the operation of a market economy in which anyone can participate in supply and demand and form contracts with anyone else, rather than by central economic planning. Human labor power is for sale in the market as one of the many commodities. In capitalist systems, goods and services, including those regarding the most basic necessities of life, are produced for profitable exchange.

Nationalization
Nationalization, also spelled nationalization, is the act of taking an industry or assets into the public ownership of a national government. Nationalization usually refers to private assets, but may also mean assets owned by lower levels of government, such as municipalities.
Nationalization may occur with or without compensation to the former owners.
Socialism
Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating state or collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and the creation of an egalitarian society. Modern socialism originated in the late nineteenth-century working class political movement. Karl Marx posited that socialism would be achieved via class struggle and a proletarian revolution which represents the transitional stage between capitalism and communism.
All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly, although there is considerable disagreement among socialists over how, and to what extent this could be achieved.
Bailout
The bailing out of a corporation by government is controversial because bankruptcy can be seen as being caused by the failure to satisfy consumer demand; the bailing out is thus an instance of government intervention on the market overruling the will of consumers. The bailout also chooses winners and losers. For example in the most recent bailout by the US government some companies were allowed to fail while other companies were bailed out.
Further the bailout takes money from the people and gives this money to certain failing institutions. The argument is made that since this money is created out of thin air, this will cost the people money at the grocery store in the form of inflation to benefit certain favored wealthy bankers.
Outsourcing
Jefferson and the rest of the founding fathers would not have conceived of selling out our neighbors in the name of free trade. Trading products with the world is great, but taking our economy from Americans and giving it to other countries will be regretted by all one day. Why is our government reducing America to a third world status? You would have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to see it.
Totalitarianism
A system of government that is centralized and dictatorial and requires complete subservience to the state.Totalitarianism (or totalitarian rule) is a concept used to describe political systems where a state regulates nearly every aspect of public and private life. Totalitarian regimes or movements maintain themselves in political power by means of an official all-embracing ideology and propaganda disseminated through the state-controlled mass media, a single party that controls the state, personality cults, control over the economy, regulation and restriction of free discussion and criticism, the use of mass surveillance, and widespread use of terror tactics. The term has been applied to many states, including: the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, German Democratic Republic (East Germany), Socialist Republic of Romania, People's Socialist Republic of Albania, Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, People's Republic of China, Democratic Kampuchea, and Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea).
Totalitarianism is generally considered to be an extreme version of authoritarianism.
Authoritarianism
Authoritarianism describes a form of government characterized by an emphasis on the authority of the state in a republic or union.
-Highly concentrated and centralized power structures, in which political power is generated and maintained by a repressive system that excludes potential challengers and uses political parties and mass organizations to "mobilize people around the goals of the government.
-The following principles apply: 1) rule of men, not rule of law; 2) rigged elections; 3) all important political decisions made by unelected officials behind closed doors; 4) a bureaucracy operated quite independently of rules, the supervision of elected officials, or concerns of the constituencies they purportedly serve; 5) the informal and unregulated exercise of political power.
-Leadership that is "self-appointed and even if elected cannot be displaced by citizens' free choice among competitors" 6). Modern Democracy.
-No guarantee of civil liberties or tolerance for meaningful opposition.
-Weakening of civil society: "No freedom to create a broad range of groups, organizations, and political parties to compete for power or question the decisions of rulers, with instead an attempt to impose controls on virtually all elements of society.
-Political stability maintained by "control over and support of the military to provide security to the system and control of society; 2) a pervasive bureaucracy staffed by the regime; 3) control of internal opposition and dissent; 4) creation of allegiance through various means of socialization.

Collectivism
Collectivism is a term used to describe any moral, political, or social outlook, that stresses human interdependence and the importance of a collective, rather than the importance of separate individuals. Collectivists focus on community and society, and seek to give priority to group goals over individual goals. The philosophical underpinnings of collectivism are for some related to holism or organicism - the view that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts/pieces. Specifically, a society as a whole can be seen as having more meaning or value than the separate individuals that make up that society. Collectivism is widely seen as being opposed to individualism. Notably these views are sometimes combined in systems.
Jean-Jacques Rousseau's Social Contract is considered an example of collectivist political philosophy, which maintains that human society is organized along the lines of an implicit contract between members of society, and that the terms of this contract (e.g. the powers of government, the rights and responsibilities of individual citizens, etc.) are rightfully decided by the "general will" - that is, the will of the people. This idea inspired the early socialist and communist philosophers such as Hegel and Marx.
According to Moyra Grant, in political philosophy "collectivism" refers to any philosophy or system that sees any kind of group (such as a class, nation, race, society, state, etc) as more important than the individual. According to Encyclopædia Britannica, collectivism has found varying degrees of expression in the 20th century in such movements as socialism, communism, and fascism. The least collectivist of these is social democracy, which seeks to reduce the inequities of unrestrained capitalism by government regulation, redistribution of income, and varying degrees of planning and public ownership. In socialist systems collectivist economics are carried to their furthest extreme, with a minimum of private ownership and a maximum of planned economy.
However, political collectivism is not necessarily associated with support for states, governments, or other hierarchical institutions. There is also a variant of anarchism which calls itself collectivism.
Dystopia
A miserable state of existence in which everything is unpleasant or bad, typically a totalitarian or environmentally degraded government. The opposite of Utopia. George Orwell's novel's 1984 and Animal Farm are dystopias.
