This Lens is a tribute to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the handsome American actor most famous for his roles as Denny Duquette on Grey's Anatomy, John Winchester on Supernatural, and Judah Botkin on Weeds. On all three of these shows, his character is now dead. But not forgotten.
Biography
Jeffrey Dean Morgan was born April 22, 1966 and grew up in Seattle, Washington. He originally wanted to be a basketball star but injured his knee in college and had to stop playing. He then dropped out of college to pursue his interests in painting and writing.
He began his career as an actor almost accidentally. He was helping a friend move from Seattle to LA, intending to stay only for the weekend, and simply never left. He'd been "bitten by the bug."
He had a number of roles in various television series, including the Burning Zone, ER, The Practice, Angel, CSI, JAG, Monk, Tru Calling, The O.C., and Star Trek: Enterprise, but his big break arrived in 2005-2006, when he got recurring roles on three hit shows on three different networks: Denny Duquette in ABC's Grey's Anatomy, John Winchester on the WB's Supernatural, and Judah Botkin on Showtime's Weeds.
Recently, he has branched out into films, including the romantic comedies The Accidental Husband and P.S. I Love You, and the comics-based Watchmen, in which he will play The Comedian.
He is currently single, following a relationship with Weeds co-star, Mary-Louise Parker.

All About Denny Duquette
Dr. Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) was introduced to heart patient Denny Duquette in "Begin the Begin" and was quickly charmed by his playful personality and sense of humor. As their relationship grows more serious, she helps him get a heart transplant and eventually accepts his proposal of marriage. Tragically, however, Denny suffers a stroke while recovering from the operation and dies in the season two finale.
