Yes, Jell-O Shots Can Be Gourmet, or at Least a Little Fancier
Well, I stumbled upon a blog called the Jelly Shot Test Kitchen that gives the undignified jello shot a makeover. Her Jell-O shot recipes are based on actual adult drinks that taste very much like their liquid counterpart. She also uses molds and garnishes to make them elegant enough to serve at a dinner party. Who would have thought jello shots could be so fancy?
Blogger Michelle Palm has a jell-o shot recipe book, snag it on Amazon: Jelly Shot Test Kitchen: Jell-ing Classic Cocktails-One Drink at a Time.

Grown Up Jello Shots
Presentation is a Key Ingredient
Your average jello shot is made in little cups that are a big pain to remove the jello from. Try instead making them in molds or cutting them with cookie cutters, then present them on mini muffin cup liners, cucumber slices (shown above), inside an actual shot glass, or even little appetizer plates. You can also get creative with garnishes, anything from colored sugar and sprinkles to orange or lime zest.

My Favorite Jello Shot Recipes
Courtesy of Jelly Shot Test Kitchen
- Jelly Shot Test Kitchen: Blow Pop Martini Jelly Shot
- These are so yummy and fun. They are by far our favorite jello shot to make. A real crowd pleaser as well, and super cute when done up with a sucker shape mold and served with a sucker stick.
- Jelly Shot Test Kitchen: Mimosa with Orange Flower Water
- Mimosos are one of my favorite ways to celebrate a good brunch. Who knew you could turn them into jello shots! A little Jello for brunch never hurt anyone.
- Jelly Shot Test Kitchen: Cosmopolitan Jelly Shot Recipe
- Vodka is the classic jello shot, but gelled martini is so much better. This one packs some punch but is very yummy. I love a cherry in my Cosmo, so I like to add a maraschino cherry with a stem into the mold, which makes it even easier to serve. Yummy!
- Jelly Shot Test Kitchen: Butterbeer Jelly Shot Recipe
- Ply your pre-Potter movie party guests with a Butterbeer jelly shot!

- What great idea! I love the idea of a sangria jello shot, but a mojito one would be awesome, too!

- They had those sparkling jellos a few years back...I wonder if you could make a champagne jello shot? Nice ideas, I love the idea of serving them on cucumber slices. Thanks for sharing these.
