Photography
I usually shoot digital, but I have an odd obsession with film and film cameras. There's just something nostalgic and tangible film that you don't really get from digital photography. I still prefer digital, but film is fun, too.
Interesting story about the shell photo....my one sister collects conch shells and this is one that she found on the beach...with the conch still inside!

Holga

Though I am a digital photographer, I love film. There's just something about it. I don't know. One film camera that I own is a Holga. A Holga is a Chinese camera with a plastic lens that take 120 medium format film.
Holga is usually classified under Lomography, which is named after the Russian Lomo camera that is plastic and fantastic as well. Holgas are sort of in a class of their own. You get light leaks, vignetting, and weird color shifts from this cheaply made camera, and that's what adds to its charm. Flaws. It gives you photos character. You never know what you're going to get out of film, and that mystery is one reason why I love my Holga.
This photo was taken with Kodak 120 medium format film and was taken at night during Halloween. This scary guy was a neighbor's decoration. I used my on-camera flash.
More Holga Examples.
I do a lot with my Holga, and here are some pictures.
Sometimes I put 35mm film in my Holga without its adapter, and I get lovely continuous shots with the film sprockets exposed.

Holga 146120 120 Color Flash Camera
Amazon Price: $35.79 (as of 06/01/2012)![]()
This is the Holga camera I use. It takes great 120 medium format pictures (for a plastic lens, of course), and is easily modified for 35mm film. Plus, the mult-colored flash is fun. Give film some love!
Dogs
Dogs are another passion of mine. I've got a field-bred English springer spaniel named Patrick and he is quite the active fellow, even at ten years old. I love photographing dogs, playing with them, petting them, and even taking care of them.Another aspect of dogs that I am strong advocate of is that I am anti-puppy mill. Puppy mills are mass breeding facilities where very little is taken in consideration about a dog's welfare. One mill can hold hundreds of dogs in harsh environmental conditions, little food, wire cages with no space, and little to no vet care. They are very inhumane places for dogs, and cats, to exist in. Puppy mills breed misery!
On to a happier note, please enjoy this photo of my Patrick looking adorable in front of the Christmas tree.
Oh, Patrick!
That's what we say when he does something sily.
He's even got his own lens!

Fractals
One of my other hobbies, though I should note that I am doing this less and less, is digital art in the form of fractals. Fractals are a complex geometrical math problem expressed as a picture. That's the best way I can explain it. All I know is how to use my programs and I sometimes get a really cool piece of abstract digital art. My Zazzle Products

I love knitting, though I have only been doing it a few months and am still quite the beginner. This is a scarf that I made in a class I took. It's a basket weave pattern and I am very proud of it.

- You have some nice designs and your picture of Patrick is so cute. I liked your piece on your Holga camera, very interesting. I too like the traditional way of photography I was always reluctant to go digital. Nice lens.
