Welcome to my free web graphics lens!

I'll be showcasing some of my free background tiles and buttons here for people to grab and use on their own websites. Additionally, you can visit my online scrapbook to view my other web graphics that are not shown here.

If you see a graphic you like, right click on it and save it to your hard drive,  then upload it to your own webserver and use it in your website. Alternatively, you may go to my scrapbook and link to the image from there. Yes, really!

I hope that you like my images, I had fun making them for you!

If you enjoy this lens or find it to be useful and informative, please rate it up at the very top of the page!

Six free background tiles for you!

Free sidebar backgrounds

To see these in proper resolution, click the image. Some of the thumbnails show up blurry due to my hosts default thumbnail size.

Each of these images is designed as a sidebar tile. If you visit my gallery at Shareapic you can download the sidebar version, or the simple square version you see thumbnailed here.

Amazon books on web design and graphic arts

These are some great tools I've used and recommend.

Photoshop CS3 For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech))

In my opinion, this is the best and easiest to understand guide to using Adobe Photoshop.

Amazon Price: $16.49 (as of 10/11/2008)

Creating Web Pages All in One Desk Reference for Dummies (With CD-ROM)

Another fantastic and easy to use guide from the Dummies series, this one is a great reference for both novice and experienced web designers.

Amazon Price: (as of 10/11/2008)

Adobe Photoshop CS3 [OLD VERSION]

THE finest graphics design software on the market today. Expensive, but worth the investment.

Amazon Price: $601.49 (as of 10/11/2008)

Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7.0 [OLD VERSION]

Paintshop Pro is second only to Adobe Photoshop. It does most of what Photoshop does, as well as a few little extras. I personally feel that BOTH programs are a requirement for serious graphic artists.

Amazon Price: (as of 10/11/2008)

Spotlight on The Gimp

The best free graphics editor around!

The Gimp could be called Photoshop's free sibling. This software does all of the basic image creation and editing jobs that Photoshop and Paintshop Pro does, as well as having some of its very own special capabilities.

There is something of a learning curve, as with all good software programs, but spending a few hours just experimenting with The Gimp's capabilities will result in a decent working knowledge of the program.

Among its excellent features are rounded buttons, glowing text, and beveled buttons.

If you aren't ready for the purchase price of Photoshop or Paintshop Pro, DEFINITELY download The Gimp. And if you DO own either or both of these programs, its special unique features make it worth installing as well.

Download the Gimp from its homepage. Make sure you download the help files, too, as they are packaged separately!

Some of the thousands of free plugins and filters available for The Gimp.

Your opinion matters!

So please, share it!

Please let me know how you like the graphics here, and feel free to leave a link to the website you used these on!
