Ultimate goal: "To win the Olympics every year that I am there, and also to break the world record in the 400 and be the first one to run 42 seconds. It will be the greatest experience of my career to defend my Olympic gold from 2004."

Subsequently, Jeremy Wariner made his first appearance on the world athletic stage by winning gold medals at the 400m and 4x400m at the Olympics Games. He was the first Caucasian man to win Olympic gold at 400 m since Viktor Markin in 1980. Following his Olympic successes, Wariner turned professional, foregoing the rest of his collegiate eligibility, though he remained at Baylor and continued to be coached by Clyde Hart.

In 2004 he won the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championship in the 400m and the 4x400m relay. Later that same year he won two Gold medals at the 2004 Olympic Games, in the 400m and the 4x400m relay.

The next year, Wariner also won the 400 m at the 2005 United States Track and Field Championships with a time of 44.20. At the World Championships in Helsinki he won the 400 m in 43.93, and later anchored for the American team in the 4x400 m relay for the gold medal.

In 2006, Wariner ran a new personal best of 43.62 seconds at the Golden Gala Meet in Rome. Together with Asafa Powell (100 m) and Sanya Richards (women's 400 m) he won his sixth out of six Golden League events (400 m) in the same season, which earned him a total of $250,000.
