Jericho often ran head-to-head with American Idol. Something tells me that Blake and Jordin Sparks had a lot to do with Jericho's ratings. Is it really any surprise that Jericho had ratings problems running up against the most popular show on TV?

The post-nuclear apocalypse drama Jericho was canceled by CBS last year, but the network relented and renewed the show for seven more episodes after disappointed fans sent 25 tons of peanuts to CBS in protest. It's a great story of grassroots fan support.
"Everything [in TV] becomes about the figures and I think the one thing that happened over the fight to save 'Jericho' was that our audiences became faces and people and lives, and it became real. It wasn't just a number that appears in the fast nationals or whatever it is the next morning. These" - the Nut People - "are kind of going, hold on a minute. This is my show. I enjoyed watching it. Stop treating me like I'm a number. This is a show I tuned in for...' One of the things I think was really exciting about the campaign is all those people to whom it kind of matters - they showed what THEIR demographic was."

The Save Jericho "Nuts" campaign ended with the statement from CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler that Jericho would be renewed as a 7 episode mid-season replacement on CBS.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it upon your other missions is to begin to hit each website that has the ability to impact Jericho in some way.
- Hit IMDB, Buddy TV, etc. (links added soon) and visit each character's profile. Those hits are logged. This site has already been told to start submitting our hit logs, others most likely will too.
- Hit every blog that mentions Jericho, give them a press release, and a friendly nudge. Don't be obnoxious and spamable, just be friendly and personable, interact with others in their own particular fandom niche.
- Visit every Jericho website. You don't have to participate if you don't want to, or you can if you want to. Make their active hits surge. (Add us to that mix, keep our active hits up, as mentioned before, we are already reporting our stats in.)
- Blog crew: Keep blogging, keep getting Dugg, keep the level of Jericho attention hot.
- Vote! Sign Petitions! While they may not count these as actual numbers, it keeps the topic hot, fresh and in the eye.
- Search engines - We did it before, we can do it again. You type in "Jericho", "Jericho CBS", "Jericho Show", or any of the actors names, the search engines log it. Some even blog it. Get those searches in.
Two weeks into the campaign, all of you had better prepare for a long haul, just like the last one. And we can't stop now. Keep the numbers up. Keep the efforts going, no matter what your personal feelings are about a fan in the fandom, remember, we are all working together for the fandom as a whole. As has been said throughout history: "The Needs of the Many Outweigh the Needs of the One". Go. Fight. Write. Web hit.

the dangers that television programs face in the relevance of the soon to be antiquated Nielsen system as more and more shows are DVR'd and downloaded from iTunes, as Jericho showed. After Jericho got trashed in the ratings for it's beleaguered 2nd season, it was the most downloaded show on iTunes. The math (logic) just doesn't add up, but the advertising dollars do, as far as network execs are concerned, and their fat paychecks are dependent on!
Despite the disparities that we, the viewers are suffering when quality content gets dumped, they say that studios are trying to get ahead of this technological deficit. (Great, then bring back Jericho and Journeyman!). Posted by Sweet Tea

Another reason why I try not to get involved with U.S Network TV .... you find a quality show, get into it and they pull the plug. And the silly part - it was predicable that the ratings would fail:- 10pm slot for a show thats very popular with teenagers- bring the show back nearly one year after the end of the first season- schedule it when a writers strike sent everyone packing for DVDs and their internet.

While I appreciate and understand CBS's decision to cancel 'Jericho', I'm hoping that the people who created this groundbreaking series will listen to the viewers, and sell the series for further production.
Many of us couldn't watch the show when it aired (10:00PM out west, where I live) because we have lives that begin in the morning, and preclude staying up late -- we watched it either in an 'on demand' or TiVo format, or on the website.Taken together, I'll bet there were far more than CBS's official 6M viewers-per-episode-average.
Sell 'Jericho' to another network.We're not particular. We'll keep watching.
