Jerry is loved
Jerry has joined his family members and friends who were waiting for him on the other side. Jerry is among the stars that light up the night sky, that look upon those that are still in this physical world. His love will continue to pour down through those stars to his lovely wife Esther, daughter, sons, siblings, nieces and nephews, friends and all who loved him. Jerry will be most remembered by his stories, jokes and history lessons that he shared with his family, and friends. Jerry was a friend to all who met him. Jerry's family would appreciate that all remember that Jerry was a celebrator of life, so don't mourn in sadness his departure, be uplifted by all that he shared and gave to this world.Jerry we loved you very much. All is well.

Ancient Egyptians believed that upon death they would be asked two questions and their answers would determine whether they could continue their journey in the afterlife. The first question was, "Did you bring joy?" The second was, "Did you find joy?"
~ Leo Buscaglia
Death Brings Out The Best And The Worst In Others.
Allow Grief To Bring Out Your Best
Death draws out various emotions from the bereaved and shows the best and the worst traits of a human being.
Don't buy into the drama that some enjoy creating. Take time to recognize that each person handles life and death differently. Do your best to honor the dead as well as the living. Honor them by making emotional choices that are wise and not knee-jerk reactions.
" When you look back at the anguish, suffering, and traumas in your life, you'll see that these are the periods of biggest growth. After a loss that brings you dreadfully painful moments, you are a different man, a different woman. Many years later, you will be able to look back and see the positive things--togetherness in your family, faith or whatever -- that came out of your pain." ~ Elizabeth Kubler-Ross
This is a chance to reunite, forgive and let go of old wounds. Use this as a chance to allow your best side to show. We ask you to let this be your gift to Jerry.

Accepting
The best way is to lead by example. Do what is right for yourself. Let others find their way. Each person experiences things in a different way. Having faith isn't a religion. Be grateful for who you are and what you have.

Celebrate the Holidays
Without Jerry
The memories, the flashbacks, the turns your life has taken can all intensify feelings of loss, the longing for warm connections and the loneliness of being emotionally stranded during a season devoted to the realities and fantasies of family togetherness which no longer include him.
It may seem that the best you can do is to simply tolerate the holiday season. Jerry was a lover of life and he would ask that you remember him without sadness and think of all the joy he shared with you. Jerry would encourage you to find joy and fun in the season, to celebrate life. Instead of dwelling on the sadness of holidays that will never be the same, go ahead and let yourself return to that moment and feel the joy and excitement.
If a certain Christmas song brings back memories of a lost family member, let yourself experience the joy of the love you shared. Focus on the love you've experienced in your life, skipping for at least a moment any sad comparisons between then and now.
Each phase of life, each holiday season of our lives, can be joyous in different ways. Let yourself feel the gratitude for the blessings of Christmases past. Then look to the present. Sharing Christmas with an excited child or adding to a child's hope and happiness this year can help you to experience the holidays in a new and wonderful way. Reconnecting with your faith or with special people can bring peace and joy to this season. Celebrating with new friends can bring special pleasure to these days as well.
Anytime there is love and family -- there is a special holiday whatever the date on the calendar!
Merry Christmas Jerry from your family. We missed your smiling face this year, but know you were with us in spirit.
It is easy to hate and it is difficult to love. This is how the whole scheme of things works. All good things are difficult to achieve; and bad things are very easy to get. ~ Confucius

Quiz
A little quiz to see what you know about the year 1927.
What events were shaping the lives of those who are part of the Silent/Mature Generation. The members of this generation were children during the war or they fought in World War II. This group is a combination of two generations. Veterans (1901 - 1924) and Silent (1925 - 1942). Of the generations the Matures are the smallest group. There are approximately 55 million people that fall in to this generation. They are considered to be the wealthiest generation. In more recent years this group has received acknowledgements for many of their efforts. Tom Brokaw has written about them in his book "The Greatest Generation."
How much do you know about some of the years that shaped their lives?
"Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections." -Unknown

Information indicates that Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus did take a winter tour to Cuba in the winter of 1950/1951. The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus route books do not provide any information on the Cuba tour, but I have been directed to some other possible sources for this information.
Additional information indicates that Al G. Kelly-Miller Bros. Circus went to Cuba in the late 1940's early 1950's. During that period there was political unrest, the group was detained in Cuba for a while before being released and allowed to return to the US. A second source believes that the Kelly-Miller Circus did not go to Cuba. This source believes that the Kelly-Miller Circus did ship a loaded elephant truck to Havana, Cuba about December 1959. The 1960 route book shows the truck on a flat car at Miami, Florida enroute to Cuba. I am continuing to research this information.
I also found indication that other circuses may have been in Cuba from 1930 to 1950. - New Orleans Radio Shrine

- This is such a lovely synchronicity that I have to share it with you. Yesterday I was feeling kind of down and wanted to do something to raise my vibration. So I spent the afternoon watching Abraham videos on You-Tube. I didn't realize that Jerry had transitioned until later.
I was feeling so good, I wanted to share the feeling with my husband. So I told him I had "signed us up" for a seminar and he had to go. We spent the evening watching these videos and both of us felt revitalized. Then I check my Squidoo page and found your lovely visit to my Pagan decoration page. Following you back to your lensmaster page I told my husband, "look at this, the top lens is about Jerry Hicks.
I was even more astounded when I visited this lens and realized that Jerry was part of your family. I just love when we re-discover how everyone is connected.

A message for Jerry
I feel like you are smiling down on all of us today. We love you,
Notes about my family genealogy project
I am one of several in my family who is or has worked on various branches of the family tree. It is labor intensive, but one that is done with much love for those we wish to remember and whose history we wish to share with future generations.
There are still many genealogy records that have not been digitized yet. So a lot of the story is not online. My family members and I spend a lot of time tracking down information. We all have acquired over the years numerous photo albums and boxes full of family mementos. Some are very well documented with dates and names. Others we try to bring to family gatherings to find out what someone else might know about a particular person, photo or item. It also means when we are able to vacation in an area or maybe have a family member already in that area who willing to visit the site of the original sources of data to gather information and make necessary copies to send back to us.
I believe that our ancestors want to their story to be told. I am continuing what others before me started. Keep in mind that for me and others at this time Jerry's story, like several other of our ancestors stories is a work in progress and we work this around our families, jobs, and other activities. It is important to the family that the information be from reliable sources and not based on unreliable sources.
Please check back for updates. We appreciate your interested.

Commorating Today
Memories flowed
As I watched the faces of those who had 30 plus beautiful loving years with their life partners, it brought this song to mind. We honor all of you and all family who transitioned before you and those who will join you when their time eventually comes.
Jerry, I hope you are enjoying your reunion with your cousins and ancestors that were waiting for you and that are no longer with us physically here on earth, as we plan to enjoy those that are still with us in this world.
You are loved.

Happy Easter!
We missed you.
It has been an eventful few months for us. Several family members have been working through their family and personal concerns. I know I have had a lot of dialogs with you about several of these things. I know it is funny, but I, like Esther feel that you are here helping work through these things. I am told that is a normal feeling to have while going through the grief process. For whatever reason, it brings me great comfort. I don't mind if this feeling continues forever. You were a rock. I didn't realize how many of us depended on you in so many different ways until you weren't physically here with us.
I thought you would like to know some news from the medical front. It seams that one of the drugs given to leukemia patients may help those with parkinsons. It is still in research stage, but I know you would like to know this news because of our love for those that we hold dear in our lives that suffer from the disease. It isn't a cure, it just slows the disease down. I do admire the fact that these individuals don't close their doors or options and keep seeking, just like you. The drug may be coming to late for some, but for future generations there is hope. I am registered with the National Marrow Registry and am encouraging others to do so as well. If more people signed up, we might be able to save or extend more lives.
I am sure you already know this, but all of us are doing pretty good. Inspite of the rough year we all came through and what we know lies ahead, I think it has brought all of even closer together. If it is possible to be even closer than we were. I don't think it has taken away anyone's individuallity or independence, but we are closer now in spirit than before.
I haven't forgotten that even with all the medical advances, it is most important to take care of our bodies. We are given this body as a gift and we need to focus on caring for it while we are physically here. To do this we need to care for a minds, bodies and spirit.
Jerry you are loved and missed very much.
