Jessica "The Ragin'" Rakoczy - Female Pro Boxer and Female MMA Fighter

Jessica Rakoczy is a female pro boxer and now mixed martial arts fighter.
She was born on April 14th, 1977 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
During her boxing career, Jessica held the International Boxing Association (IBA) Women's Lightweight Championship, the North American Boxing Association (NABA) Women's Lightweight Championship, the North American Boxing Federation (NABF) Female Lightweight Championship, the Women's International Boxing Association (WIBA) Intercontinental Lightweight Championship and the World Boxing Council (WBC) Female World Lightweight Championship twice.
Like a lot of fighters, Jessica didn't have it easy growing up.
Her mother died when Jessica was fifteen and she had an absentee father who wasn't part of her life.
Instead of feeling sorry for herself, she channeled her energy into sports in high school, excelling in football, soccer, baseball, hockey, track and swimming.
Jessica was so focused, that she was voted "Athlete of the Year" twice.

Jessica Rakoczy Boxing

Jessica Rakoczy BoxingAfter high school, Jessica took up boxing and won her first two fights with knockouts.
She was twice considered for the Canadian national boxing team, but injuries stopped her twice.
The first time injuries sustained in a car wreck and the second a broken wrist while sparring.
But of course, that didn't stop Jessica.
Jessica made her pro boxing debut on October 21st, 2000 with a win over Chris Sepulvado in Philadelphia, Mississippi, via a second round TKO.
This was the start of eleven wins in a row until she was finally stopped by Jenifer Alcorn on January 17th, 2003 in Lemoore, California.
The bout went the full ten rounds, and Jessica lost via split decision.
But as always in her life, Jessica picked herself up and went on to win eight fights in a row until she lost to Eliza Olson on September 16th, 2005 again in Lemoore, California.
She went on to amass a 31-3-0 record in boxing.

Jessica Rakoczy MMA

Jessica Rakoczy MMAJessica then turned her sites to female MMA, with less that stellar results so far.
Her first MMA fight was a loss against Michelle Ould at TPF 1 - Tachi Palace Fights 1 on October 8th, 2009 in (guess where) Lemoore, California.
(I'm thinking maybe Jessica needs to stop fighting in Lemoore)
Her next MMA bout was against Zoila Gurgel at TPF 3 - Champions Collide on February 4th, 2010 in (you guessed it) Lemoore, California.
Jessica lost via submission (arm bar) in the second round.
Next up, she took on Felice Herrig at BFC - Bellator Fighting Championships 14 on April 15th, 2010 at the Chicago Theatre in Chicago, Illinois (finally!)
But she still lost via split decision.
Jessica Rakoczy boxerIn her next fight though, it looked like things were about to change.
Jessica took on Jennifer Scott at Millennium Events - MMA Xplosion on October 9th, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada...and won!
She won big too, beating her opponent down so badly that the fight was stopped in the second round because the bloodied Jennifer was ruled ineligible to continue.
So great news!
Jessica finally won her first MMA bout!
No so fast.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission conducts post-fight drug screens and Jessica failed, having both Oxymorphone and Oxycodone found in her blood.
So the decision was overturned and the fight ruled a no contest.
On November 4th, 2010, Jessica went before the Nevada State Athletic Commission and they gave Jessica a nine-month suspension and an $833 fine.
At the hearing Jessica admitted to taking one-half of a Percocet for back pain the night before the fight.
She said that she had a sleepless night caring for her young son, Kizer the night before the fight and had forgotten to inform the commission doctors on fight night.
NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer said after the hearing that Jessica was very apologetic and contrite at the hearing and said "I think when her suspension is served, there won't be any issues getting her licensed,".
Although this gives Jessica the notoriety of being the first female mma fighter in Nevada to fail a post-fight drug screen.
Though in California female mma fighter Carina Damm was suspended for one year and fined $2,500 by the California State Athletic Commision back in 2008 for steroid use.

Jessica Rakoczy Updates

I haven't been able to confirm this yet, but I have heard that Jessica will be returning to the ring.
What I have heard is that she will be fighting Laura Serrano on the under card at the Mayweather vs Cotto boxing match on May 5th, 2012 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Either way, there are videos popping up on YouTube of Jessica working out....

More Jessica Rakoczy Updates

Jessica did indeed return to the ring on May 4th, 2012.
Although she didn't fight Laura Serrano, she did fight and defeat Brittany Cruz (8-5-1) via TKO.
Hopefully we will be seeing more of Jessica in the ring soon!

I did'nt know anything about Jessica "The Ragin" Rakoczy...but I do now! A very skilled and determined athlete that has the ability to re-invented herself as a MMA fighter
Her professional boxing record of 30-3-0 is quite impressive, no I think her record is "outstanding"!
Very interesting and enlightening lens on one of the top MMA personalities...despite her fine and suspension by the Nevada Stat Athletic Commission.
