The Tomb of Jesus Pictures- Where I would love to breathe my last breath!

Ranked #827 in Travel & Places, #34,396 overall

"And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."- Matthew 28:19-20

Every body would have a place they'd like to visit before they die, I do too and for me it is the precious tomb of our lord Jesus Christ. It's not only the place I'd like to visit [many times as possible], but also where I would love to die [If my lord wills]. I wasn't lucky enough to have lived during the times when Jesus lived on this earth, so visiting his tomb and crying my heart out to the lord at his tomb will definitely be like a wish coming true.

What happened at the Garden Tomb?

Jesus was buried there and rose on the third day!

Shortly after Jesus was crucified to death, his body was wrapped in linen and anointed with precious perfume oils by Mary Magdelene. His body was then left in the Garden tomb and was closed by a huge rock which no one can open.
Mathew 27-Verse 57-61: New International Version
Jesus Burial
"57 As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. 58 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. 59 Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away.61 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb."

The guards were outside his Tomb watching eagerly to see if any of Jesus`s disiples will try to steal his body and lie to people about Jesus rising on the third day. But when the day came closer Mary Magdelene and the other Mary [Jame`s Mother] went to Jesus`s tomb and was shocked to see it opened.

Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James went inside the tomb and got more shocked to see that their lord's body has been stolen [they thought]. They sat there weeping; an Angel of god appeared to them and let them know that the lord Jesus has risen like he said he would. Both women were overjoyed and went to tell the other disciples what had happened.

Mathew 28: Verses 5-8: New International Version

" 5 The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

Jesus Resurrection Bible Verses

The following Bible verses are from the Original King James Bible. These are the bible verses about what happened at the Garden tomb after Jesus died. Please visit John Chapter 20-King James Bible Online to read more of these holy bible verses.

King James Version Bible: John 20: 1-19- "The first [day] of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre."

"2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him."

"3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre."

"4 So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre."

"5 And he stooping down, [and looking in], saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in."

"6 Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,"

"7 And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself."

"8 Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed."

"9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead."
"10 Then the disciples went away again unto their own home."

"11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, [and looked] into the sepulchre,"

"12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain."

"13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him."

"14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus."

"15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away."

"16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master."

"17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and [to] my God, and your God."

"18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and [that] he had spoken these things unto her."

"19 Then the same day at evening, being the first [day] of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace [be] unto you."

I've been to the Garden Tomb twice (1985 & 1998). The first time, our guide said, "He is not here; what are you going to do about it?" The second time, that guide said, "It's such a shame you spent all that money to come over here only to discover the tomb is empty." Our young-adult son was MOST impressed at the tomb and at the "Wailing Wall."

It would be a wonderful place to visit. My parents made a trip to the Holy Land, but doesn't look like I will be able to swing it.

I haven't been but it'd be an amazing experience to be near where history was made and arguably the most influential man so far.

Lovely lens. While I have no real desire to travel to many places outside of the US, this is one that draws me. Thanks for the photo's and the videos because I think that they are as close as I will get and that is enough. Still, it would be a blessing to see it.
