Why Jesus is my best friend - by Reddawg2012

I don't have a friend in the world,
but I consider Jesus my best friend, my only friend.
I've had a lot of friends over the years - each friendship has floundered,
and fallen by the wayside.
If those friends ever loved me, they don't love me now.
Or if they do, they acted so unlovingly toward me that I shut them out.
Jesus, who is my role model whom I fail miserably to emulate,
but will never stop striving to become more like, loved me before I was ever born.
He loved all of us before we were ever born, and He still does.
So when I speak of me, I speak of you too, and all of us.
Jesus, the only man who ever lived with committing sin,
gave His life for me, in order to pay for my sins.
He was insulted and mocked, made to carry a heavy cross,
and wear a painful crown of thorns.
He had nails driven into his hands and feet, and hung on a cross until He was dead.
He allowed Himself to be crucified, so that I could have eternal life.
And every time I think of that, my eyes fill with tears.
Surely, there is no greater love than that.
Surely, there could be no better friend than Jesus.
