Jet Li

Jet Li was born on 26 April 1963 in Beijing,China.

Jet Li started training a martial art form "Wushu" at the Beijing wushu academy at age of eight.
By the time he was 11 he had already won 5 gold medals in the chinese championships.

Before he was 20 he starred in his first movie "Shaolin Temple" which started the kung-fu boom in china in the 1980's.

He then relocated to Hong Kong and became the biggest star of the kung fu boom there too in the 1990's.

Jet Li studies English with a tutor 4 hours a day.

"I can feel very brave through all the action scenes in front of the people who are on the set, but when a girl comes close to me my face turns red because I'm so shy"

"You can beat me up, but don't touch my hair, I will kill you!"

I love Jet Li's movies,
particulary because personally I have a strong connection to martial arts and Jet Li's fighting abilities are out of this world:)

Of course he plays a character in his movies, but throughout all his movies I get the feeling Jet Li is a man of great self control and spirituallity.

Like he is the nicest man in the world but get on his bad side and he will take out the world:)



Not all his movies hit the main circuits in the cinema but I get them from the video store to watch anyways:)

I cant really pick one favourite but there are a few that stand out.

The one that I like a lot and must have seen many times is Cradle 2 the Grave with Jet Li and DMX.
Amazing stunts, very good acting, fantastic fight scenes, its a must watch if you've never seen it. Get to the video store NOW, or buy it off amazon (link below).

Based in old China, the main focus of the movie is about the Martial art Wushu, and the journey of becoming a Wushu master.

Jet li plays a wushu master in training, where he is young and very good at the martial art.

His downfall is that he is incredibly arrogant and does not posess the wisdom to be a true master.

He wishes to conquer instead of share and teach, and in a duel kills a respected martial arts master.

In a reciprocal act of vengance his family is killed and he spends years in a rural village to find himself.

He eventually manages to find that wisdom and set up a venture to share his wisdom with the world but alas there are villans involved who do not want the best for him.

A brilliant movie with incredible martial arts scenes.

Initially set in the busy modern city life a teenager Jason,who is a bit of a nerdy type and gets bullied by jocks, is obsessed with kung-fu and frequently visits an old,blind chinese man's store to buy kung-fu movies.

One day after having bought a movie the bullies stop him, the main jock idiot beating up poor Jason and forcing him to take them to the old mans shop so they can rob it.

At the shop the blind man is robbed and shot, and in his last words he gives Jason a staff and tells him it must be returned to the Monkey King.

Here the adventure begins and Im not going to tell you any more of the story.

It is filled with fun, martial arts action and great scenery.

Jet Li plays the Monkey King and Jackie Chan is an immortal drunk warrior, they end up having a fansastic kung-fu duel which I could watch over and over again!

Not a fantastic story line but it has Jet Li AND Jackie Chan!! Definetly enjoyable:)

This is by far one of my favourite movies.
The story-line is fantastic and the action is incredible and explosive.

Dmx plays Faith, and together with his crew plans and executes a high security bank robbery.

Of course in the bank vault there are incredibly lethal items which are to be sold on the blackmarket by terrorists to the highest bidder.

Jet Li plays a secret agent who must recover the items and later teams up with DMX to take on the terrorists.

The filming is really fantastic and the stunts are AMAZING!!!!

Bikes, cars, banshees, tanks, cagefighting with Jet li vs over 8 hardcore wrestlers!!!!

Jet Li plays a top secret chinese government agent Lui.

He arrives in Paris to assist with a drug-bust, but he happens to be in a place when a hooker gets killed and Lui gets blamed.

He has to run from bad guys and from the law, and works with his uncle to get a videotape to prove he is innocent.

He teams up with a witness to the murder (Bridget)
and together then have to withstand many bad guys who get in their way.

Some incredible martial arts scenes as to be expected and the technique called the Kiss of Death.

Lui uses a technique of sticking needles into the enemies body at certain places, parazlysing the enemy. The Kiss of Death is a needle stuck in the back of the neck in an exact place causing an incredibly painful death.

A fantastic movie but not for faint-hearted

Romeo Must Die and Cradle 2 the Grave are in my opinion Jet li's best movies.

They have fantastic story-lines and superb action scenes.

Jet Li plays Han Sing, a former cop in prison because he took a fall for his father and brother.

When he receives the news of his brothers death, he breaks out of prison and heads for the US.

He is introduced to the daughter Trish (Aaliyah) of a notorious crime boss.

Together they go on a journey to eventually find and kill Hans brothers murder.

Really a super movie!!!

Jet Li plays Danny, a slave who is treated like a dog by his boss.

He has the mind of a child and there is only one thing he can really do, and do extremely well...FIGHT.

His boss Bart keeps Danny on a leash and collar and makes him fight in illegal gladiator style fights to earn huge money for him.

Until one day there is a car crash, Danny escapes and meets a kind elderly blind Piano tuner, who through his music shows Danny a world he never knew existed.

Of course the bad guys come after him and he must take them on to protect him and his new friend.

Of course superb matrial art scenes as always...a very enjoyable movie showing how cruel life can be.
