General Jewellery Care

You should always follow your jewellery manufacturer's instructions or recommendations before trying other methods of cleaning or care

Jewellery may get damaged over time especially if it is not cared for correctly so it is very important to take care of it and by follow a few simple steps you can insure your jewellery is still around and in great condition for many years to come and maybe even become a family heirloom passed on down through generations

Jewellery storage
You should always separate your jewellery before storing it to avoid damage. Things like diamonds and other hard gemstones can scratch your metallic parts and gem stones

Never store your jewellery in direct sunlight, excessively hot areas or in humid areas.

Store your jewellery separately wrapped in jeweller's tissue or soft cloth will help stop scratching or chipping.

Store your jewellery in an airtight containers or plastic zip lock bag to help reduce oxidation of the metal components.

General cleaning
Jewellery gets dirty that's a fact! Sooner or latter it will have to be cleaned but you can help slow down the tarnishing processes by following a few simple steps.

In most cases the best method to clean your jewellery is to use a soft bristle brush with mild dish washing liquid diluted in warm water. Just brush your jewellery pieces gently in a small bowl and pat dry with a 100% cotton cloth

Looking after Sterling Silver or Fine Silver

Why your Sterling Silver or Fine Silver tarnishes

Fine silver is 99.9% Pure Silver and Sterling Silver or .925 silver are an alloy and contain 92.5% pure silver and will tarnish natural with exposure to air there is very little you can do to stop this from happening.

Storing your silver in air tight containers away from other metals and keeping it away from chemicals, perfumes, spays, shampoos and other cleaning liquids will help.

Cleaning silver is very easy and usually you can remove the tarnish with warm water and mild dish washing liquid by scrubbing it with a soft brush such as a tooth brush.

Commercial cleaners are available but they can damage other elements of the jewlery such as crystals, pearls and gem stones
