JEWELRY PICTURE TAKING, WHAT A PAIN
Journaling about my joyous adventure (not) in taking my own pictures of jewelry.
After alot of reading and experimentation I think we have finally settled on what hopes to be and easy way to shoot pictures.
both inside and outside of some gorgeous jewelry. One thing to remember is, never stop learning and experimenting and if you come up with some useful ideas or know something please share!!! I am sure everyone or anyone reading this might send you well wishes and thanks.

Taking Pictures of Jewelry
The Digital Camera
Using a Digital Camera for picture taking
Thats right I am talking about taking photos of my Jewelry. It has been a painful and rocky (no pun intended, ok maybe a little) road, but I think I finally have a couple of useful suggestions.
The first I would like to discuss is the use of a Digital Camera.
Okay, digital camera... yuk?.. the pictures i took were either to dark or not clear enough even though I used a high resolution.
I tried them outside / inside / on a house with a mouse..
end result was not a pleasant one. I was just using a regular 7megapixel canon. it takes great photos, just not of jewelry
well maybe not so bad, for a first timer, the image I shot was based on a leather jacket idea. It was not toooooo bad.

- More more more ... you are off to a great start ... now tell us more about your jewelry picture taking ... pictures are good too. Many a year ago, I actually purchased a jewelry instruction how-to book but never started down that path. I'm thinking feathers ... from fishing!

THE SCANNER METHOD
My advise here is to use a fuax leather cover.
lay your jewelry piece on the scanner / cover completely with the leather
try it with or without the cover down. I found the cover down made a better picture / but the cover up worked fine except for it place pressure on the leather causing a rippled picture. I am going to try some colored leathers to see if it is the brown and texture that made all the difference or if it is the material of the leather itself. the picture i currently have is using some scoot gaurd ...muahaha.. didn't really turn out great.
but wasn't a complete flop. Again, I will be adding pictures for visuals soon.

A FRIEND
the pictures were made..ready for this? on the back of his brown leather jacket. I kid you not.- and they are great.
the resolution was wonderful so you can scan in close and the lighting was like this.
large brown no gloss wood kitchen table - next to a sliding glas door plus flash.
Moral of this story, you just have to keep practicing and as I find better methods or have easier results that you can DIY so to speak, I will post them. Visit www.beadbait.com for these stunning images. -- or at least images you can stand to look at.
More later from 'the fish".
