for as long as living memory and determine which items the younger
generations favor and purchase. Leading entertainers are the cultural
icons of today and have become the real-life walking and talking
mannequins for designer jewelry.
Fashion companies have been quick to jump on the bandwagon of urban
culture and music, helping to define and streamline the style in a
marketable manner. The fashion needs of the youth are big business
and designers have been smart in realizing this.
The online fashion jewelry design website Gem-Fashion.com is a
nationwide leader with over 1,000 products aimed at both women and men.
They have changed with the times and fitted into a niche market as
Gillian Jones, Style Director of Gem-Fashion explains, "Rap stars
and R&B vocalists such as Beyonce Knowles, Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs
and Jay-Z have become role models the younger generation look up to.
The fashion items they wear, especially jewelry, heavily influence
our market place and become an essential tool in defining what the
"in" style is for the moment."
Meet Lisa!

Hi! I'm Lisa Jesse, and together we will look at all the great jewelry trends for 2009! Hang on...this winter's going to get hot! Read on and shine like a star...
"How much do you love me?!"
Have Fun!

Bib Necklaces: The BIG Trend!
If you are looking for a necklace as the centerpiece to your outfit or to simply present a more upscale look to your wardrobe, the bib necklaces seen on the runways this year will do just that. Whereas layering your single strand necklaces has long been a popular look, bib necklaces are a bit more on the statement piece side. We've previously mentioned our love for design sisters, Danielle and Jodie Synder, and DANNIJO continues to hold our hearts when it comes to bib necklackes. Their Etta necklace not only incorporates the bib look, but includes metal, which is another hot jewelry trend for 2010 (as opposed to this year's "crafty necklaces.")
A more intricately designed bib necklace from Banana Republic may also be up your alley. I love the ribbon closure and stones in this design. It is also a very affordable $125.
What do you think of the bib necklace trend? Too gaudy? Or simply spectacular!!!
You know what I like... YEAAA!!!
Jewelry Trends 2010: Cocktail Rings
Cocktail rings are items that will never really go out of style. There is always a party or event where you will be holding a champagne
glass and you will definitely need a ring that makes a statement. This
upcoming season you should look for oversized gemstones, eclectic
patterns and gloss to accentuate your signature look. Some designers
are showcasing clean looks by combining gemstones and woods. Fabrizio
Giannone's contributions are not only gorgeous, but give an understated
option for the often over-the-top looks from last season.
Retail Trends 2010
The summer doldrums have set in at retail in the U.S. market. Jewelrysales for July were below expectations, as were sales in other retail
categories. Apparently, consumers were lounging around the pool, trying
to cool off from the season's heat and humidity, rather than shopping at
their favorite merchant.
The following is a summary of July jewelry and watch sales
(July 2009 versus July 2008):
All Jewelry & Watch Sales (8.3%) (All retail merchants who sell jewelry)
Jewelry (7.9%)
Watches (11.4%)
Specialty Jewelers' Sales (13.5%) (Specialty jewelers only)
Unfortunately, these trends are more negative than in the prior three
months, when demand appeared more solidifying. However, the overall
trend for jewelry demand in 2009 is still positive. Year-to-date sales
are stable, and the prospects for a reasonably good - certainly better
than last year - holiday selling season are on the horizon.

Future Trends In Jewelry 2010
This colletion of jewelry is somethig I have never seen before. When I think of jewelry my mind pictures necklaces, rings, bracelets and such like, but what we see here is quite different. These would rather be called just 'accessories', in my opinion.Looks interesting anyway. Long simple chains over a blouse or a T-shirt, a skirt or trousers, dresses or shoes, linked together in the most weird combinations.
The designs might look odd but I do like them. They are unusual and add a bit or rock chic and party glamour depending on the garments you wear with them.
Pieces are avilable through blislau.com.
