The strange tale of UK Band Of Gypsies
how is it that different release exist for UK
Are you familiair with the different artwork on Band Of Gypsys?
In the USA it was simple, the record was released on Capitol records and only one type of sleeve exists, the well known black cover.

In the UK apparently it was a diiferent story, Track records initially released Band Of Gypsies (notice the misspelling with 'ie') with the so-called "puppet" cover: The cover featured Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, John Peel and Bod Dylan on the sleeve all depicted as puppets.

A few months later the puppet cover was withdrawn from the record stores and replaced by a gatefold Band of Gypies with a great picture (stretched from front to back cover) of Jimi performing at isle-of-wight festival.
