Jimmy Eat World

Static Prevails was the only album that included bassist Mitch Porter, who was replaced by Rick Burch. Shortly after Porter left, Jimmy Eat World was signed to Capitol Records. They recruited drummer Mark Trombino and wrote their first studio album, Static Prevails.

Clarity was Jimmy Eat World's second album, written from 1998 to 1999. This album marks the time when Tom Linton is not lead singer anymore and is replaced by Jim Adkins. Linton is still guitarist, and provides backing vocals on some songs. In this album, the song "Goodbye Sky Harbor" is based on John Irving's novel A Prayer for Owen Meany.

This album was recorded without the help of a record label; the band supported itself by touring and releasing a compilation of all their singles. This album was Jimmy Eat World's most successful album so far; the single "The Middle" reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. After this album was released, the band released a deluxe version including 21 extra songs.

After heavy touring for Bleed American, the band came together to write the songs for their new album, because they had decided that they did not have enough material for a full album yet. This album had the songs 'Pain' and 'Work' as singles. Soon after this album was released, the band released the EP Stay on my Side Tonight, which contained demos recorded with Mark Trombino.

This album was also self-produced. This album was released on October 16, 2007, with 'Big Casino' and 'Always Be' as lead singles.

Invented is Jimmy Eat World's seventh and latest album. They are currently writing new songs and getting ready for self releasing the album. The first single was announced to be 'My Best Theory' and was digitally released.
