Jimmy Wayne Has Heart

Jimmy Wayne is a different country music singer — in a good way. No cowboy and rhinestone apparel such as some of his counterparts wear for this singer. Instead, it's hello snazzy dresser and singer of songs such as Sara Smile, from Hall & Oates. Jimmy, at 36, has the look of a rock star in his mid twenties — hip clothes and hip haircut.

Country music is my favorite music because it speaks the truth. Get the right singer combined with the right words and it's a synchronicity that stirs the soul. Jimmy Wayne is such a country music singer. He has lived the life, taken his hard knocks, and has come up a survivor who can "walk the talk."

More Than Jimmy Wayne, Country Music Star

Caring survivor . . .

Jimmy Wayne: Meet Me Halfway

To grow up under duress is to live a life that is at least twice as hard. Some folks can overcome; some cannot.

Jimmy Wayne's upbringing was complete with stints in foster care.

As you may or may not know, I've lived a life like that, in many ways. And so I am in awe that Jimmy Wayne can establish a highly public career — and also walk halfway across America!

. . . He did it in order to show support for the children who are "aging out" of the foster-care system. These young people are often left to their own devices and ill equipped to handle life alone and on their own.

Jimmy Wayne walked 1700 miles just as he had intended when he set out seven months prior. And he walked the last leg of the trip with a broken heel. He speculates that his heel broke at some point during a few days of walking down some serious inclines. Unaware that he has a broken heel — broken in half, mind you — a fever set in and finally put a stop to things. But, only for a little bit. Soon, a doctor had his foot encased in an air boot, and he was on his way again.

I'm in awe of Jimmy Wayne because some children who are mistreated eventually lay down, and they don't come back up unless they have the help of drugs or alcohol. There's no way of knowing what side a child will come out on — walking across America or hiding in a back alley waiting for a score. Jimmy Wayne has been blessed, and he is a blessing.

Sara Smile

Listen in while Jimmy Wayne covers Hall & Oates' "Sara Smile." Beautiful. (Daryl Hall and John Oates actually sing harmony on the record. How's that for approval?)

Paper Angels

Jimmy Wayne wrote a book entitled, "Paper Angels," due out in the fall of 2011. Be on the lookout for it. It's inspired by his experiences in the foster-care system in North Carolina. And coming up next, listen in while he sings, "Paper Angels."

Jimmy Wayne is like a breath of fresh air to hear him sing, very talented man. I hope he will pursue all of his dreams, whatever they may be and find just what he always had. A great soul!

I am a big fan of Jimmy Wayne. He has a unique, awesome voice. I will buy every bit of music he puts out. Some of my kids are big on country, but they all like Jimmy Wayne. He seems more interested in helping people than being famous.

Yep, I sure am. And a big country music fan overall. I've seen the Sarah's Smile video a number of times and love this guy's sound. He'll never replace my Trace (Adkins) as my favorite, but I really do enjoy this guy's music. :)
