Jim Shore Heartwood Creek Collectibles

For as long as I can remember I've wanted to create a home décor line based on the traditions, colors and designs found in American folk art. And I'm happy to say that after many years of hard work, trial and error (mostly error), and some pretty good luck that dream has come true. To me folk art, especially the art found in quilting, is the perfect foundation for creating an environment that feels like home. It's not just beautiful, it's warm and familiar with a sense of history, family and place. It's the kind of design I want in my own home, and in fact much of this new line is based on pieces that Jan and I have collected over the years.

I am extremely proud of the new At Home With Jim Shore collection. Each piece has a history, a story to tell. In my mind that is the role of a folk artist, to tell our history and share our traditions in creative new ways. It's something people are doing all over this country and I'm blessed to be a part of it. It's my pleasure to share this new collection with you. I hope you enjoy it.

Join Jim for his next appearance on QVC Thursday August 21st as part of the Harvest Home Décor and Entertaining special. The show airs from 10pm to midnight EDT, with Jim introducing some exciting new formats including platters, pillows and our own personal favorite, cookie jars! Now you'll have to look for him, he won't be on for the whole two hour show, but we think you'll love what you see.

It'll be a busy week with Jim on QVC again on August 25th for a kick off to the Christmas season. Show times are 9am and 9pm EDT for one full hour shows featuring a preview of Jim's new line for Christmas 2008. You won't want to miss it. There are some new Disney pieces that are wonderful.

For anyone planning a trip to the East Coast, or if you are in the neighborhood, Jim will be appearing at the Boscov's Atlantic City location at Shore Mall in Egg Harbor Township, NJ Saturday, August 23 from 1pm to 4pm. This exclusive event, one of only 6 scheduled for 2008, is a great opportunity to meet Jim, purchase from a selection of over 100 of his unique creations, and have a favorite piece or two signed. Don't miss this chance to come by and meet Jim.

They call these the Dog Days of Summer. I believe that has something to do with the appearance of Sirius, the Dog Star, in the southern sky this time of year. Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky and legend has that it served as a beacon for ancient sailors. I'm certainly not an expert on such things and prefer to enjoy stars as a spectacular canopy rather than think about any particular one. The Dog Days traditionally have been slow-paced, a time of quiet enjoyment of summer's pleasures and a chance to catch up with family and friends. As I get older, and my family grows, I treasure these times more than ever. I hope you get a chance this time of year to kick back and enjoy the simple things in life.

But I do have a request. Together in the last year we've raised over $70,000 in support of the National Military Families Association (NMFA). I've signed a few of the Peace in the Garden Angel figuriness to help raise money for this worthy cause. It's a great piece and my proceeds from the signing will all go to NMFA. Please look for these and for several other signed offers between now and Christmas as we hope to raise even more. And please keep in mind the brave men and women serving our nation overseas. God bless them and may they return home safe to enjoy their families and friends in peace and honor.
