Take the following tips when you go for your next job interview so that you can make a positive impression and please your prospective employer as well as get that job:
Dress for success
Make sure that you are wearing your best clothes when you go for a job interview. You should wear a suit and tie if you are a man and a woman's suit for a woman with low heels and stockings. Although most companies go for business casual nowadays, you do want to dress for success when you go for the job interview so that you can land the job.
Talk positively about your past jobs
Employers will most likely ask you about your past job experiences. Make sure that you talk positively about any experiences that you might have had when you were working. You should talk positively about them even if they were unpleasant experiences. Never talk bad about a past job or a past employer as it looks bad for you.
Answer questions straightforward
If you are asked a question that you do not understand, ask the interviewer to repeat the question and then answer in a straightforward manner. Job interviewers sometimes are vague with their questioning. If you answer questions in a straight forward manner and ask them to clarify what you do not understand, you have a better chance of giving a well informed and intelligent answer.
Remember your manners
Be sure to sit up straight, do not slouch and look the interviewer in the eye when you talk. Do not mumble your answers or look to the floor. Be sure to shake hands as this custom is always observed by both men and women. Remember your manners when you are in a job interview and that includes thanking the interviewer for taking the time to speak to you.
Toot your own horn
Never tell an employer anything negative about yourself. This is the time to toot your own horn and loud. While being self depreciating may be charming at a party, it can turn off a prospective employer. Do not brag, but be very detailed about your accomplishments and do not be afraid to list them.
Be confident, well groomed, informative and charming and you are sure to ace that job interview.

It is important to become comfortable in an interview setting throughout your career.If you are not comfortable in an interview, it will be difficult to obtain a quality position with a company.
The employers will assume that if you cannot handle an interview, then how will you handle the full responsibilities of the position they are offering.
Now, let's go over what employees are looking for. One of the most important traits in an employee that the employer is looking for is a positive attitude. Come in to the room with a smile and an eager handshake. Give the interviewer the impression that you are very excited about this interview and the position with their company.
Be sure to express interest in the positions, as well as interest in the company. Make sure to do some research about the company and position you are applying for.
This will be especially helpful when you are asked the question, "why do you want to work for us?" This is a question you can almost always expect to be asked in an interview.
If possible, try to find out about the interviewer beforehand. If you are referred to this job by a friend that already has a position with the company, make sure to ask him questions about the interviewer. Get some tips from him about what the interviewer likes to hear.
Obviously, do not go in and say exactly what he said, but use his blueprint of a successful interview, and enhance that. It is not possible for everyone to find out about the interviewer, but if you are able to do so, by all means, take advantage of it.

One obvious thing that employees are looking for is how you dress. To be on the safe side, be sure to never underdress. It is much better to be overdressed. This way the employer knows you take the opportunity with their company very seriously.
When the interviewer is asking you questions, do not give them one word answers, even if you have no experience in what they are questioning you about. Giving a response that is short, such as, "No, I haven't" is not acceptable.
Say something like, "I have very similar experience to that and I feel those experiences would be very beneficial for me at this position."
When the interview is finishing up, it is important to close out strong, because this is often how the interviewer will remember you. Let them know how excited you are about potentially working with the company.
Find out what the next step is in the hiring process. Let them know that you are able to excel at their company, and that you are very eager to receive an offer.
Remember, your number one goal is to get a job offer. As you are leaving, thank them for their time, and let them know how much you would enjoy working with them personally.

When you are going on a job interview, you will want to avoid mistakes that may end up costing you the job.Job interviews are very coveted at this point of time because the economy is so bad.
Jobs are very difficult to get as are job interviews, so when you get one, you want to be sure to avoid any mistakes that you can make that might blow the job for you.
Avoid the following mistakes when you go to a job interview:
Being negative about past job experiences
This is probably one of the biggest mistakes a prospective employee can make. Never be negative about past job experiences. No matter what the circumstances of your last job, try to turn it into a positive. Look for what you learned in that job and do not make any negative comments about your past jobs or past bosses.
Being unprepared for questions
The purpose of the job interview is for the employer to find out what you know about the job and to ask you questions. If you are unprepared for questions and stumble around when you are asked questions, you may end up blundering the job interview. Be prepared to answer questions that will pertain to the type of job that you will perform.
Forgetting your manners
Stand up when you meet your prospective boss and offer your hand in a handshake. Look the other person in the eye when you greet them and tell them your name. When you leave, stand up and shake hands again and tell them that it was a pleasure meeting them.
Forgetting your manners will end up costing you the job interview. Be polite, shake hands and look someone in the eye when they are talking to you. Do not slouch in your seat and sit up straight.
Dressing inappropriately
If you are a man, you should wear a suit to a job interview. If you are a woman, a suit dress or a skirt and blouse is fine, although a suit is better.
You should dress up with heels and stockings if you are a woman and dress shoes with dark socks for a man. Never wear too much makeup if you are a woman and easy on the perfume or cologne, too. You want to look professional, not like you are going to a nightclub.
Pretending to understand what you do not know
If the prospective employer asks you a question that you do not know, admit it. Everyone may fudge a little on their resume and even in the interview, but if you are totally lost in the question and do not know the answer, you are better off to admit that you do not know the answer than try to fudge your way through an obvious lying answer. The question may be a trap, too.
