The Internet Is Bringing Employers and Employees Together

Times are changing and so is the way we apply for jobs. The Internet has provided many useful career resources for job-hunters and headhunters alike.

There are now hundreds of websites out there that employers can use to find employees and vice versa!

The World Wide Web has saved employers a lot of money, because they no longer have to resort to the often bank-breaking option of placing an ad in a paper to get applicants. They can now go to various online job and career sites and post an ad to find an employee for the position they need filled - and they're not limited in space like a print ad is!

Employees can check these site boards and look for the job advertisements the employers place. Not only can they see the ad, but most sites allow them to upload their resume when applying for a position or show the email address they should send the resume to.

It saves you the time of going to the company in person to give them your resume and you don't have to mail it the slow way.  Employers and employees are both usually in a hurry to get the position filled.  No one wants to wait for the postal service to connect them.

When time is of the essence

An employer can quickly review digital resumes on their computer or within the website's database without having to look at a mile-high stack of papers looming on their desks. One glance at the resume and it's either deleted or printed out for further review.

Career and job listing websites are generally categorized so that employers can seek qualified applicants with experience in their industry. Job hunters can seek out opportunities in their field easily - instead of having to wade through hundreds of possibilities.

When time is of the essence, and you want a wide range of options, a job and career site is your best bet for ending the search quickly and with little effort on your part.

Finding a Job Through an Online Career Site

Finding a job through an online career site makes your job search easier.

Instead of sifting through newspapers looking at each and every two-line ad (which doesn't give you any detail anyway), an online job and career site let you search for the kind of career you want.

By simply typing in a keyword that's related to the job you're looking for into their search box, you'll be provided with only the leads that would interest you. A quick look at the ads you want and you can apply to the jobs in an instant.

Some sites will allow you to build a resume online so that you can just send it along with your application. Some employers will ask you to send it to a special email account. If they specify a certain way, be sure to follow those directions.

Some even let you submit a professional cover letter that lets you introduce yourself to the employer and why they should consider your resume as a top contender.

The Internet is an excellent resource for you to use. Check out whether a company is legitimate or not by seeing if you can find any negative or positive information about them. The Internet is full of scammers, so protect yourself and research them before applying.

You can easily apply to more than one place. Sometimes the job you really want won't contact you until later on. Getting a job with other companies in the meantime can help you sustain a living until you get more experience and have headhunters arguing over who gets to hire you.

Sometimes you won't get an answer right away. Companies that deal with online job and career sites have to sort through hundreds of resumes before hiring someone. Give them some time before sending any follow-up emails to check on the position.

Attn: Employers - Not Sure How to Find a Suitable Employee on the Internet?

You may have heard some horror stories about what goes on in the world of the Internet, but don't let that sway your decision to use the World Wide Web to cast your net and find a suitable employee for your company.

Using online job and career sites can be a HUGE
benefit to you.

The Internet reaches people all over the world. This means that you'll have more access to a highly skilled pool of applicants. The prospective employees can apply online by sending a resume with their application straight from the job site or by sending it to an email address you provide in the ad listing.

This eliminates the paper piles of resumes and applications sitting on your desk and gives you the instant ability to evaluate potential employees quickly and easily.

Will you only get resumes from those who are qualified and zero from those who aren't?

Unfortunately, the Internet doesn't help with that, but there are ways to sort through those resumes without reading the fine details of each and every one. When you place your ad, specify some explicit instructions on how to apply!

Most of the ones who aren't qualified are ones that apply on a whim hoping to beat everyone out of the job. Those people tend to skim over the job listing and won't see the instructions you placed.

Delete the ones who didn't follow your directions. It won't eliminate them all, but a good chunk of them will disappear right away. Questions can be handled via email, but leave the job interviews for the phone or in person when you can get to know the applicant on a more personal level.
