Job Engines - How To Automate Your Job Search And Create Your Own Personal "Jobs Engine"!

Why do you need to create your own powerful "Jobs Engine" and automate the career intelligence that crosses your desk?

Here's at least 3 reasons you need your own automated "Jobs Engine"...

1. They say people are just a few paychecks away from bankruptcy. That's why when you're out of work, you need to get back in the workforce fast.

2. If you ARE working, it pays to know if a better job might be available. Most experts say that the way to improve your salary and job options is usually to change jobs - either within the company or in a new company.

3. If you're out of work, you may fool yourself about how hard you're workign to get a job. Many people I work with think they're "looking for work" if they put in one new application every few weeks. If you're out of work, heading for insolvency, then you really need to apply the principle of massive action to your job search. You should bombard yourself every day with possible job leads so you can take action daily if possible to land a proper job for yourself until the "perfect" thing comes along.

To bombard yourself, you definitely need to automate the process as I'll describe.

To make sure you don't miss what might be your golden chance, I'll show you how to create your own powerful automated "Jobs Engine" that lets you have the kinds of jobs you want delivered to your email inbox every day for free.

Let's get started creating YOUR "Jobs Engine"!

What is a "Jobs Engine" and how do I make my own?

Check out the picture of the lady waiting for the perfect man. If you keep waiting for the perfect job to come to you, you may end up in the same predicament: never finding it.

This lense is about how to use the internet and email to find that perfect job, or at least a better one. Here's how creating your own personal "Jobs Engine" fits in.

A "Jobs Engine" is really just a search engine with jobs listings. You're probably familiar with a bunch of them: monster, hotjobs, craigslist, etc.

This Lense is about how to make it YOUR JOBS ENGINE by combining the best of the listings from the major jobs engine sites and delivering the results to your email inbox daily for free.

It's a 2 step process.

First I'll highlight the jobs search engine websites I like best for this purpose. As a Global Career Development Facilitator, these are the sites I go to to help MY customers look for work.

Some other time on some other lense, we'll discuss the "hidden job market".

For now lets talk about the publicly listed jobs that appear on the major job sites and how to give you the most bang for your job seeking time each day.

Remember, to be successful, job hunting must become your "job". That means devoting hours to it every day.

This lense is designed to help you stop wasting time FINDING potential jobs so you can spend more time CONTACTING POTENTIAL EMPLOYERS. That's why this is about creating YOUR personal Jobs Engine.

Now on to the jobs engine links we'll use to make YOUR JOBS ENGINE!

My Favorite Job Search Websites For Creating Your Own "Jobs Engine"

There are 2 reasons I will list a site here:

1. They tend to list DIFFERENT JOBS, not the same listings repeated at every site.

2. They have RSS or XML feed like a blog for whatever your search criteria.

Both criteria are required to create your own personal "jobs engine" as you'll see in a minute.

Let's talk about the sites for creating your own "Jobs Engine" one by one:

My Preferred Job Search Websites For Creating Your Own "Jobs Engine"

There are 2 reasons I will list a site here:

1. They tend to list DIFFERENT JOBS, not the same listings at every site.

2. They have RSS or XML feed like a blog.

Both criteria are required to create your own personal "jobs engine" as you'll see in a minute.

Let's talk about the sites for creating your own "Jobs Engine" one by one:
GetTheJob.com
GetTheJob.com gets their job listings directly from corporate websites and, in my experience, tends to serve up different listings for your location. Why? Most corporations can't afford to run classified advertising for any and every opening. Plus, they give you the unique RSS feed code for every search.

Craigslist.org
Depending on the city, Craigslist.org may have alot of spam listings. Overall they are excellent though and have many unique listings you wont find anywhere else.

Monster.com
Monster.com has recently made their feeds available to the public. They have some good job listings, but also have alot of work at home spam listings in my opinion. They're pretty easy to tell. They pay no salary, ask for money up front, and promise you'll be rich soon.

HotJobs.com
This is Yahoo's entry into the jobs engine category and they have listings I normally don't find elsewhere in my area. Sometimes they'll have business opportunities masquerading as sales jobs but not too often.
Indeed.com
You may not want this one if it yields too many duplicates. Indeed.com makes job searches easily available by RSS and can be helpful. As an aggregator though, it tends to duplicate monster and America's Job Bank (as long as it's around).

So How Do You Automate Your Job Search Engine? Easy!

To get fresh daily job leads delivered to your email address is EASY.

Now that you have the RSS feeds, you just need to plug them in to create your own job search engine.

Here's what to do...

Take the RSS feed or feeds from your favorite websites and plug it in to the free RSS by Email services at

Feedblitz.com

Feedburner.com

Now, every day, you'll get an email from your chosen RSS by email aggregator telling you a bunch of new listings.

It's your job to sort through them and follow up!

You could use an RSS reader instead but I find the intrusion of an email full of job leads (or one email for each RSS feed) FORCES people to take action!

Don't cheat yourself!

Hello. Thank you for the information. I'm not real computer savvy but I'm going to try to do the RSS feeds thing.

My job searh is going horribly. But, I have not applied myself yet. It is such an emotionally draining experience - looking and going on interviews.....constantly being judged. I hate it!
