Being a foreigner, most times, will be a benefit to finding the perfect business to start. You will have the ability to bring something unique and fresh to the community. And it will love you for it. Good Luck! And don't forget to comment on this page and let me and other expats know how you are getting on.

Top 5 Ways to Make Money Living Abroad

I hope you enjoy the list! Let me know if you have used or considered any of these methods during your world travels. Bonne Voyage!
  • Teach your native language.

Are you from England, now living in Italy? You can teach English. If you have a masters degree, you could teach in a University. However, even if you don't have a high degree, you can still teach in small private schools or in tutoring situations. Native speaker teachers are generally, always preferred as teachers.
  • Start a business.

Being a foreigner, you will notice some business opportunites around you. Perhaps, your host town could use a hip cafe or bagel shop. People love something new and different than the same old. Import successful business models from where you are from.
  • Export Goods.

It may sound advanced, but it really is quite straight forward. Find local producers of handcrafted goods and market them on websites such as Alibaba.com. Have an agreement with the producer where you will take a commission on each sale. You will boost your host country's economy by exporting their products.
  • Become a business liaison.

Now, that you are familiar with your new territory, use your knowledge as a service. Business persons who are coming to your country need to get to and find resources fast during their business trips. Offer services including taking them to meetings, finding places, translating, become their personal guide. You can charge by the day on this one.
  • Blog about it!

Become an authority on living in your host country. As the foreigner you can see and point out many differences that natives take for granted and never think twice about. You can become a resource for those interested in visiting or considering moving to your host country as you have. Make sure to add lots of photos and recipes. Visitors love these. You can monetize your blog with Adsense or other publisher programs.
