The Basics of Getting a J-O-B!!

When you are getting ready to enter the job market, you can make your job search more productive with a few basic job searching tips.
Job searching can be a difficult and discouraging thing to do, ESPECIALLY in THIS ECONOMY!!! To be honest some people may take months to find a good job, and this can affect their self esteem and their confidence. If you want to hit the job market up and running, I am going to give you some tips on how to improve your chances of getting a great job. First off, you need to know which job you have the most qualifications and skills for. Many people usually apply for jobs that pay big money, but are not called back because their skill set did not match the job they applied for! Find a job position that you can accommodate well.
You want to start by putting together a resume. This is going to be THE MOST IMPORTANT part of the job searching process! I cannot STRESS THIS ENOUGH! Resumes are nothing more than a marketing tool for YOU! They are basically YOUR SALES PAGE! This is something that you want to keep in mind where you are preparing it. There are MANY people applying to jobs these days, because of the economy and MANY lays off, so you will need to make you resume STAND OUT! Do not OVERDUE your resume with extremely heady language, but make it clear and concise. Let the employer know exactly what job you are applying for and back it up with the skills and the experience you've had. Also, one of the most COMMON mistakes on a resume is SPELLING! ALWAYS CHECK YOUR SPELLING ON YOUR RESUME! If you have spelling errors on your resume, it might make the employer think you don't care enough to check you spelling and that you might not be right for the position!
Cover letters can also be a great tool in helping you stand out from the crowd. They can help you explain more about your skills and experience as well as give the interviewer clues to your personality type.
Another GREAT job searching method is to look online! This is THE BEST place to look for a job these days! Of course there is a lot of competition, but there are also a lot of job postings as well. You can easily go online and find thousands upon thousands of available jobs in your field. The key is to know where to look. Many jobs aren't advertised to the public. You might considering contacting job placement services or professional organizations to find a good job.
Keep in mind, that these days, a lot of companies have software that will search your resume for keywords. This helps them seperate the people that qualify, from the ones that don't! So, one MAJOR tip when searching for a job, is to use the keywords that most decribe the position that they are looking to fill. Think about what they would be looking for and incorporate those keywords!
I hope that these tips will help in you finding your dream job, and especially in this economy! Below I will post some GREAT resources to help you find a job! Thanks for taking the time to read my LENS!!

MORE JOB TIPS!!
Many websites offer listings of job openings for specific fields. The key for a successful search is to know how and where to look for the best possible jobs available.
To gain access on a certain site's listing, an individual must first accomplish the following:
1. Register at the chosen site
2. After registration confirmation (via an email from the moderator of the site), the individual may now have access to the list
3. In searching for the preferred or suitable job vacancy, you may be asked to fill out a form (online) that states an individual's profile.
This is usually used for easier browsing of related work since IT has various fields of specialties. Other sites automatically match an individual's profile with the available or suited vacancy based on the information given by the person.
4. The applicant has the option to choose from contractual, full-time, part-time, trainee or temporary jobs category.
5. If the individual prefers work that is currently not listed on the site, he or she may have the option of posting his or her resume, from which prospective employers may browse through at some other time.
To avoid frustration while browsing through the numerous listings of IT openings on the Internet, take into consideration the following pointers:
1. Determine the following:
1.1 Organize your career portfolio in soft and hard copies. While most employers will want a copy of you resume through the internet (email), there are some that still require hard copies for submission at their respective offices.
1.2 Determine preferred location of work. Is the individual willing to be relocated should a good position be offered in another city or state? Does he or she prefer work within commuting distance?
1.3 Salary. Though it would not be wise to make demands on salary, especially during the interview process, an individual must gain a predetermined range of salary that he or she would be willing to accept, whoever the employer would be or wherever it may be located.
2. Rank the items listed above based on priority.
3. Search the Internet for various sites with listings of IT job openings.
4. Register on a number of websites for a wider access to various lists.
5. Submit resume based on the predetermined priorities.
