Joe Manganiello Height

This werewolf stands in at a very tall 6'5" (1.96m). With his impressive muscle mass, Joe really looks the part in his werewolf scenes in True Blood. It takes a certain kind of man to play a werewolf and when Joe turned up for auditions he knew he could land the role. Joe was already in decent shape, but he knew to really sell the role well he had to tone up and bulk up just a little bit more.

"When I read the books True Blood was based on, I saw that Herveaux had biceps the size of boulders. Then I learned that wolves can run 50 miles at a time," 34-year-old Joe says.

He needed a combination of raw strength and agility, so contacted Hollywood trainer Ron Matthews. Joe Manganiello was pretty big, but like most muscle men in the gym, his muscle definition was blurred by fat. "I was constantly mistaken for a professional football player," the actor says.

...tone is the key to appearing bigger on screen and in real life

Hollywood trainer Ron Matthews designed a workout program which included cardio and resistance training. The training was built on principles of metabolic resistance training made popular by author Craig Ballantyne.

The workout involved 30-45 minutes of cardio in the morning on an empty stomach. In the evening he performed the metabolic resistance training which also burns fat because of its circuit cardio nature. It also builds impressive muscles as you can see on Joe. It involves high repetitions and lighter weights and uses cumulative fatigue to blitz the muscle and force it to grow.

Is the Joe Manganiello Workout For You

...most likely not. Read here for a more realistic approach

Joe Manganiello's workout program is excellent. It transformed him into the muscle man you see today and also allowed him to move in a certain way. The problem with Joe's workout is it has you working out twice per day, 6 days a week. Celebrities have the time to train like this to look extra sharp for the camera but do you have that kind of time? Do you get your meals cooked for you? Do you have a flexible schedule to train this way? My guess would be you answered no to all 3 questions. A more time efficient workout is laid in Visual Impact For Men. This workout has 3 phases which builds up sarcoplasmic muscle and myofibrillar muscle. It is the program I use and cuts the workout in half with the same results. For cardio, this is kept brief using short intense workouts that force you to burn fat at an alarming rate.

Joe Manganiello Eating Plan

A large % of how you look comes down to this..

The workout program took care of how much muscle Joe built, but he also needed a solid eating plan which would allow his muscles to recover and also because he was burning fat at the same time, he had to keep his diet really strict. Joe's diet would have consistted mainly of fat and protein. He would have got his carbohydrates from fruits and vegetables. He would have steered clear of grains, simple sugars and processed food as he wanted to burn fat by controlling his blood insulin levels. For a detailed video on this approach click here. To maximise fat loss even further and faster, consider looking into intermittent fasting which you can see here.
