Trying Squidoo
So I've been a Permission-Marketing guy for ages but my interest in blogs is a few weeks old. I attended an online seminar by William Arruda and Kirsten Dixson on their book "Career Distinction." They discussed how recruiters turn to search engines to find out more about their candidates before extending an offer. They ask you to Google yourself and ask:
- How many of the first 30 mentions are about you?
- Of these, how many are relevant today?
On a search engine you might find the famous Joe Hage quote in a 1999 Industry Standard (remember that one?) article. Or the glamour shot of me in 2000. Amusing, perhaps, to die-hard Joe Hage fans (I know you're out there) but not terribly relevant to how I'd like to been seen today: as a marketing strategy expert and innovative thinker based outside of Seattle.
I'm trying Squidoo today to learn more about search engine optimization (SEO). Does a lens like this one make this Joe Hage more visible and relevant online?
Here goes...
