Meet Joe LoCicero: Writer, Cake Decorator, Accomplished Chef, Incredible Friend

Ranked #14,765 in Culture & Society, #299,579 overall

Joe LoCicero aka Joe(y)

And the list goes on -- entertaining guru, party planner, family lifestyle expert, scriptwriter and marketing analyst.

Joe says it best about his life and books, "I'm a consummate multi-tasker. But all [my] books imbue a common theme: live a fulfilling life that embraces accomplishment, creativity, and humor."

Loving Laughter and Life

Glance through the table of contents of any of Joe's books and you can hear the excitement of life and even the laughter through his words.

"Sweetening Life's Special Occasions"
"Thinking Outside the Cake Box"
"Infusing Your Own Taste"

"Have a Flair for Solutions"
"Oh, Your Possibilities"
"Chasing Thoughts into Creative Pursuits"

"Real Doll" Cake Featured in Cake Decorating for Dummies

It's easier to assemble than it looks

Joe writes in momready.com, "Make two recipes of [Snow White Cake] below. Use one recipe of the batter to fill two 9-inch pans, and another to fill a fluted Bundt pan. Once the cakes are baked, frost them with an initial thin coating of frosting. Then, stack the Bundt shape on top of the two round layers. Set a doll inside, and then decorate the stack with frosting."

Let the Cake Decorating Begin

Joe's motto ... It's always time for a celebration!

"Cake decorating is totally dummie proof!"

I really like the apron Joe is wearing! Look closely and you can see the frosted cakes in the design. It's colorful and fun! To purchase the apron click here.

Roses to Top Off Your Cake

Put the roses you grow to work

Joe writes, "If you decorate a cake close to the time you serve it, you don't even have to worry about making arrangements to hydrate the roses on the cake.

And I always use unsprayed roses... another advantage to growing your own because you can keep them organic, and not worry about them being on or near food."

His Life Lives In All Of Us

Sadly, Joe died this past June 24, 2008 of pancreatic cancer. For me, Joe's laughter is still alive as I hear it every time in his written words.

Joe leaves a living legacy through Practical Whimsy a company he co-founded with his wife Lori. Practical Whimsy is the blending of "Southern Hospitality, Hollywood Style" offering groovy goods and snappy recipes. (Doesn't that sound like Joe and Lori?)
