Ranked #11,623 in Culture & Society, #231,983 overall

Joey Ramone

Joey Ramone was the front man of The Ramones. The Ramones, thought of the modern day founders of Punk Rock, played their first show at CBGB, New York, on August 16, 1974. After nearly 30 years of Rocking out as only The Ramones could, Joey Ramone died of Lymphoma.

MTV News claimed: "With his trademark rose-colored shades, black leather jacket, shoulder-length hair, ripped jeans and alternately snarling and crooning, hiccoughing vocals, Joey was the iconic godfather of punk."
