You know, I didn't realize that Bach was orphaned at the age of 10. He was such an incredibly talented person who left such an impression on music.

Great lens, Bach is up there with the best composers of all time. Glad to see also Ludwig Van is the favorite composer in the poll. 5 stars!

I have a very musical family so was introduced to Bach at an early age - then studied his works at school. I love the simplicity of his work. My favorite? Has to be Toccata and Fugue in D Minor

My music teacher had me play the Back fugas. He said I was so good at them. Still the music notes are in my possession. Now maybe I will give it a try! Thank you!

Hard to imagine a Masterpiece Movement that wouldn't include Bach- welcome to the group!

I love your JS Bach lens! I particularly like the story of Bach coming to blows with the truculent bassoonist. John Eliot Gardiner, in the sleeve notes to Volume 23 of his current cantata cycle, makes the pleasingly speculative suggestion that the intricate 'fagotto' part for the 5th movement of BWV 150 'Zedern müssen von den Winden' might have been his revenge upon Herr Geyersbach. If you have a moment, do check out my own modest lens on Bach's church cantatas: JS Bach's Sacred Cantatas

PS of the 'favourite' composers you listed, I was torn between Handel and Haydn, and in the end went for Haydn because I love his late masses so much.

My favorite: Whoever I'm listening to at the moment. I like listening to Vivaldi in the morning. The Brahms violin concerto is great for inspiration. And of course the Brandenburg concerto. 5* Thanks.

Pretty close to impossible to choose a favorite. My website visitors and customers seem to favor Johann Pachelbel (in particular his Canon in D), Antonin Dvorak (his New World Symphony), and Domenico Scarlatti (his Pastorale). Besides my own compositions, of course *wink*. Congratulations on a lens that brings Bach to life!

A great lens on a fascinating composer! I enjoyed your presentation showing all the ups and downs of his life. Your use of Flickr was quite creative, too. 5 stars!
