John Wayne Schulz American Idol Controversy

Amid his successful audition (he sang ' Bleedin' '), there are some people who have been insinuating that John Wayne Schulz should not have the right to participate in the American Idol reality show. The reason they give is that since he had already released an album, he cannot really considered as an amateur and thus it would not be fair for the other candidates.

The only thing is that John, being a precocious talent, released the album 9 years ago, when he was only 14 and he was a teenager. That album may have been testament to his talent but he can hardly be considered a professional, since he has not released another album since then. As a Mormon, Schulz had to travel the world for two years and one would greatly suspect that he had other things to do as well, like finishing high school. Music is great as a pastime. Full time it is only great when it enables a person to earn his living as well.

How many of the other contestants sing regularly in parties and in choirs. It seems likely that they do that a lot if they can sing as well they do. So this puts everybody on an equal footing and may the best singer win.

Another shoe that is used to beat Shulz with is that his album from 9 years ago was nominated for the Grammy Awards. Again this is being pinpointed as a controversial point to further downgrade John Wayne Schulz. The truth is that one of his song was nominated for the first round of the Grammy Awards but that it did not progress further, despite being very close to making it to the second round.

John Wayne Schulz is very close to his family and he has their unconditional support. John's mum and dad have always supported and encouraged him to make the most of his singing talents. The Schulz family's support is one of the reason why John has released his album as a teenager and why he is on American Idol today. They were with him for the American Idol audition and they were very happy that he gave such a majestic performance.

The only reason that the controversy arose is because the American Idol producers painted John Wayne Schulz as a naïve young lad who was coming from his native Austin for the first and they painted an incomplete picture of who he was. He does have that deep American look about him but he has travelled a bit.
